These really work to keep the cats and critters from using my flowerbeds as litter boxes.

We use these mats to keep visiting dogs out of certain areas in our house. They work great as long as we use enough.

Attached these to the top of my fence to keep the feral cats from using it as a highway to hold their irritatingly loud trysts in my backyard. I did have to cut them to size to fit the fence and used old sticks to wedge them in place. Easy to cut. They work great with some hot sauce on top.Update: the mats are still going strong. I am updating to suggest using E6000 glue to hold the mat in place on the fence if that is your use for them. The sticks were not working to hold in place. I drizzled globs of glue on a few posts.

One package was good enough to fill a two seat couch and arm rest. Now the cat has no option but to nap in her own bed. :)

This worked like a charm. The cats don't walk on it, and they don't climb or play with the ornaments on the tree. It would just be uncomfortable for them to walk on it, it would not injure or hurt them.

For some reason I thought humans could walk on this. I had planned to use it on a flight of stairs to keep the cat from going down there. The spikes are very rigid and of course a human cannot walk on this, shoes or not. I tried to do every other step but the cat just jumped the entire flight of stairs, up and down. Not really the products fault. So user error, I'm sure it would work for someone else.

The panel size was easy to use. They snap together (and can be separated) pretty easily, unless you are arthritic or have another issue using your hands/fingers--no problem, I tried just overlapping the edges on some of them, mostly at odd angles (because whose garden is square with perfectly spaced/sized plants?), and they stayed together just fine. They are kind of light, maybe they could blow around if in an exposed area, and some people mention animals moving them--anchor them with landscape staples, stakes, or one of the supports holding up the ring around your top heavy peonies. I also tried putting some in upside down and gently wiggling the tines into the mulch. The cats may walk on that, but they can't dig through it. My advice to anyone that is still having trouble with cats using the bathroom on these or trying to pull them up or out of the way: they probably don't have anywhere else to go--try providing a better spot for them and you. Also, they're not super flexible nor do they seem incredibly sturdy (don't walk on them!) If you need to keep cats out of mulch and don't want to see these things, or have a large area to cover, I've had success laying down inexpensive 2 inch chicken wire and covering it with a VERY thin layer of mulch. Between these two solutions, the two outdoor cats we have (and their friends from next door) no longer attempt to use the flower beds as a lavatory.
