Make sure you use a good quality gas mix. I had made my own mixture but it seem to clogged the supplied filter. I then cleaned everything and went with store bought gas mix and it works like a charm.

My 2-3 year old Stihl MS170 started to bog down as well as not wanting to start after using it and letting it sit for an hour. It was constantly flooded (ran perfect when new). Had to let it sit overnight before it would start again. Took off carb, everything was clean and no gunk, no bad gas (I only use the Stihl premix gas). Purchased this carb for it, and now it starts every time no matter how long it sits between runs, no bogging down except on the first startup, when it's warmed up, it doesn't bog and I have full power and no flooding. Mine had the Zama C1Q-S57H carb and this is an exact replacement. Works perfect and fixed the bogging/no start issues. Definitely recommend.

My Stihl 018 chainsaw would bog down at high rpm, was not able to get full power.I had previously repaired every item I thought would be the culprit including cleaning the exhaust screen, replacing fuel filter, fuel line, spark plug. air filter etc. My hunch led me to think that probably the diaphragms in the carb were warped, fuel delivery screen blocked, needle valve dirty or some other fuel related problem. Rather than rebuild the carb I opted for this carb replacement kit.Fit perfectly, easy to install and now runs at full power. As I had mentioned this is a great value.Since the average user is prohibited from ordering or procuring certified Stihl parts I decided to try this Hipa kit. Am delighted I did.

Ordered this for my MS170 chainsaw. Supposed to be plug & play as carburetor is claimed to be factory set. Installing is easy process. However, the chainsaw would not start! So I took the old carburetor apart, cleaned it out with carb cleaner, reinstalled. A few pulls later, chainsaw started. Disappointed with this Hipa replacement

Normally I would never use a cheap carb on any saw I am fixing but needed one for a MS170 and didn’t want to put a $100 carb on a $250 saw so took a chance with a Hipa carb after reading reviews and was very surprised how well the saw ran. No more loss of power in the top end.

My MS170 would not start. Checked spark, fuel, spark arrestor screen, all fine. The carb was the original Zama Q1C and although it wasn't that old, I hadn't used the saw for about three years. Thoroughly cleaning the carb did not help. The saw wouldn't even "cough" when trying to start it. I noticed a lot of fuel was getting into the combustion chamber and likely flooding the saw. I was hesitant to replace the original carb with an aftermarket one, but I had previously bought a Hipa carb for another item and it fixed that issue. So I decided to give Hipa another try. I installed the new carb and the saw starting running on the first pull! I'm not kidding. It stopped after a few seconds, but started right up again with another pull. Had to repeat this a couple of times, probably to get any air out of the carb, and then the saw ran fine. Only thing I had to do was to lower the idle speed. Overall, very happy with the purchase. One note: this kit comes with a gasket, do not use the gasket between the carb and the intake. My 170 has a small hole just below the intake opening. That opening leads to the combustion chamber, which produces a vacuum when the piston moves up and down, drawing the fuel from the tank. The gasket will cover that hole and you'll likely have starting issues. I used the gasket on the front side of the carb against the plastic air filter housing.

Installed and the fit and finishness was lacking . Had to grind the throttle wing down a bit to fit. Works when modified.
