This product worked well in my husband's engine repair. He buys HIPA products whenever possible. HIPA products are well-made and reasonably priced.

Original review: After having mine for 8 months, I decided to put it on my ms290 that is about 16 years old. ...... It went on, and runs fine, but it does not incase the carburetor adjustments like the original, thus leaving them more exposed. ...... They are long enough to fit into the rubber guide, but their lower half is exposed to sawdust.Updated review: Yes, it ran fine for about 3 minutes until I shut it off. Went to restart next day and it would not start, nor has it even fired since. Tried multiple times at different times, finally noticed that my muffler now had about an once of gas in it. It just floods the saw ...... of no value. ...... Going OEMUpdating my review based on customer service. Without even requesting it, seller has offered me a refund based on my last review. I find that to be exceptional CS. ..... We shall see if they follow through.

Bought this for the carburetor, rest of the parts for spares. Delivered on time(always a bonus).Seems like a good product, bolted on nicely, missing the shoulder for the adjustment grommet on my saw reused the grommet for the air filter. Started up within normal range for my saw, three pulls on prime two pulls on semi choke and up and running. Warmed up and idle was good high speed was good, turned idle down till chain stopped. Turned off sat for a few minutes and started right back up. Couple of cuts and all seemed good. Will see how long it lasts. Would recommend!

If you’re buying this to repair a Stihl 029 or similar model, stop. The fuel line is poor quality rubber and kinks behind the carburetor; zero fuel even gets to the carburetor. I ended up buying an OEM fuel line from my dealer and reusing the old carburetor. Runs great now. No thanks to this kit.

The carb worked great, responded to adjustment at low and high settings. Idles good mid range and full throttle is good after a slight tweak. Very good! Air filter works ok fuel line too loose of fit threw it out, I was specifically after the carb don't count on the other parts. But it was worth buying.

I got this carburetor last April and just got around to installing it today. Well my saw had been acting up for a while before that but I haven't really need it until now so I just left in the garage and forgot about it till today. So anyway I just changed out the carb and had to do a little adjusting and boy does it ever run good. I'd say it hasn't ran this well in years, my ears are still ringing...lol. But the air filter that came with the carb doesn't fit the new carb. There's an air intake manifold on top of the new carb which my old one didn't have. And the new filter has an opening in it that is supposed to fit over this intake manifold. But I could get the filter opening to line up properly with the manifold, so I just used the old filter. I also didn't bother changing out the fuel line, pulse line or spark plug that came with the new filter as the ones that I had already seemed okay. I just did a straight carb swap.

I installed this on a MS290 Farm Boss from around 2005 model year. I ordered a genuine Stihl carburetor on Ebay but it was stolen in delivery so I figured I would try this one. Normally I avoid imported knock off parts but lately I've found the carburetors to be great and the OEM ones don't last either with the lousy fuel these days.I installed it and it fired right up. It did need adjustment for ideal throttle response and idle but the saw responds very well to the mixture and idle screws on this carb. I'd argue it has more adjustment range than the original and that could be due to EPA rules, not sure but I don't recall the original being able to be leaned out as well on idle. My saw always liked to flood a little when really hot but this carb fires up perfectly on hot starts. The lightest pull and it fires back up, I'm loving it.For those who aren't familiar with this type of carburetor let me explain how to tune it. The carb has two mixture screws side by side (H and L) and the idle screw (LA) below those. Try to start the saw and if the idle is too high back off a little until the chain stops turning or just turns a little starting and stopping.Once it idles at a reasonable speed test the throttle. If it is crisp with no bogging you may be done but you can turn the L screw clockwise or counterclockwise to see if you can increase the idle notably. If you notice that the L screw can impact the idle adjust it to raise the idle, then lower the idle with the LA screw. What you are doing here is getting the mixture as optimized as possible during idle. So tweak the L, then back off the LA. At some point it will be most optimal and purr while maintaining crisp throttle. You want to try to do this alternating adjustment of L and LA to get maximum smooth idle.Next step is to adjust the H screw under high throttle. You want to get it so that it screams but is smooth, but be careful, you don't want the H at the most lean setting because you can oil starve or over rev a 2 stroke. So tweak this, then back off a bit below the maximum speed you can reach. As a general rule you shouldn't run any two stroke full speed for extended time. Stihl makes great engines but you can hurt them if they run very lean at high RPM for an extended time.Last thoughts. If your saw doesn't start up immediately after installing the new carb turn up the idle a couple turns first and try starting it once turning the L screw quarter turn one way, then quarter turn other way from wherever it started. Remember where the L screw started and try different settings in and out going 1/4 turn more or less. Eventually you will find the sweet spot and you can start from top of the process above.Happy chain sawing
