I bought this because I have my jack in the bed of my truck and didn't want anyone to take it easily. The whole thing is made of metal. Once you tighten it and lock it, it won't be coming out easily. Very nice product

I have 8 of these. i think the only application that would work is if it's sitting on top of bolt.i have some canisters on my jeep, screwing them on the bolt/stud from the bottom is not secure. despite being very tight and locked - 2 got missing, just unscrewed from vibrations.2 other ones were screwed on in horizontal axis for my hi-lift jack. eventually got dust/rain which is expected and now key won't turn inside. i had to grind the piece off as i wasn't able to remove it being stuck in locked position.the bottom line is - product is expensive and only works in 1 case. not well rust/dust protected, the locking mechanism is pretty bad. i wish i could return mine (the ones that didn't fall off and got lost) but it's too late...See photos of how i was using them for reference.

Does what it’s supposed to! Okay, maybe the keys themselves could be a bit more sturdy… they’re a little thin BUT! The knob itself is heavy duty.Would recommend!

Great product, definitely gives you piece of mind knowing someone can’t just walk up unscrew your bolts and walk off with your high jack, however it would have been great if there was a key cap on it to prevent rust or debris from entering.

exactly as described, pairs perfectly with JK hood mount (mine's a 15 JKUR). The stock hood mount kit does not come with a locking know so this is a good way to avoid easy thef tof your hood-mounted jack. It's operation is simple, you spin it on and put the key in (holding the knob still once in place) and turn the key to engage the lock, then you can remove the key and the knob will freely spin but go nowhere. In reverse, apply key and twist the other way to disengage lock, pull key out and now the knob will spin up or down (tighten or loosen to remove) as you see fit.bottom line to my jeep peeps: perfect purchase for ease-of-mind when farm jack is left unattended when paired with JK hood mount kit for farm jacks/hi-lift jacks. It's also made by hi-lift : )

So, my first knob had some technical difficulties and after a brief conversation with Hi-Lift support, they resolved my problem quickly and quite well. My Hi-Lift Hood Mount Locking Knob keeps the Hi-Lift Jack safe while I'm in the city and when I have to leave my Jeep in the woods because the aliens beam me up. They never seem to be able to get that the knob locks. The non-locking knob is always spun off and laying on the hood when wake up from the thing, but never the locking knob. I dunno. Maybe its their three fingers that can't spin the knob. Even though I don't remember much of the trips on their ship, I do remember they certainly don't have any Hi-Lift Hood Mount Locking Knobs.

Saw other people saying their's doesn't work, but mine does! The knob free floats from the nut when "locked" which lets it just spin freely and tightens to the nut when "unlocked" allowing you to remove it. If the knob is not tightened fully to the jack, IT WILL NOT LOCK. I assume this is the problem some people may be having, but make sure to tighten the knob all the way down to the jack, and once you lock it the knob will spin freely, preventing the loosening of the bolt and therefore theft of your jack.
