Definitely follow others’ advice and watch the mounting bolts and make sure they don’t drop. Otherwise - it was an easy install. Took 10-15 minutes tops. And it works. My F-150 no longer has false alarms or shows bogus “hood open” warnings. My only concern is the return spring on the latch might not be as strong - I only say this because when I pull the latch handle, the handle itself does not return as “I think” it should.

Direct bolt in replacement. Hood ajar light went away. Easy to install took about 15 minutes and I'm no mechanic. 10mm socket and pliers are the main tools needed unless you want to take off the plastic cover to give yourself a few more inches to work. I tied fishing string around the bolts in case I dropped them in front of the radiator or anything. Mark where your old one was at the corners match new one up to same spot.

The microswitch on my stock mechanism had failed which caused the system to think someone was breaking into my truck and setting off the alarm system. If you are even slightly mechanically inclined this is an easy replacement. There are several videos on YouTube that guide you on the removal and installation of this part. Had to adjust it after it was installed to get the hood to pop open with the release lever, but otherwise I had no issues.

I read the reviews and saw a lot of commentary about this latch performing as well as OEM. With such strong reviews I figured I would take a chance and ordered one. The actual replacement was very easy and I took extra care to mark the position of the old latch so that the new latch Went in with proper alignment. I finished the job, close the hood, then got a gut punch: When I pull the hood release, there was no audible pop of the releasing. That’s right the hood latch didn’t release! So now my hood is stuck closed. My truck has the automatic shutters behind the grill, so it’s impossible to get a screwdriver back to the latch to try to pop it free. I called and they said they could not help it would have to go back to the dealer. Now to add insult to injury, my truck has to go into the dealer and have the hood somehow opened to replace the latch with an OEM Ford latch, which is exactly what I should’ve done in the first place. An OEM Ford latch is about $40-$50 more than what I paid. I took a chance on a non-OEm part and I’m paying for it. I should’ve questioned the quality when I realized that the electrical connector did not have the plug to firmly connect it to the latch. Also where the pigtail goes into the latch mechanism, there was no rubber grommet to protect the wire. It’s cutting corners like this that should’ve been a red flag regarding the quality. I’VE LEARNED THE HARD WAY THAT THIS IS ONE PART THAT YOU CAN’T AFFORD TO HAVE FAIL SO DON’T GO CHEAP!

I wasn't sure if i should buy a non OEM part like this but sure glad I did. Before installation i compared side by side with the originalFord part off my truck and the weight was close, the form and fit were identical and then the install was so simple, no messing around because it was an aftermarket non OEM part. Went in just as easy as if built by Ford. Then the price. Considering it was 1/3 of the OEM price from a dealer, I think it was a good decision.

Had our f150 making an annoying alert that the hood was unlatched but it wasn’t then the OEM latch failed. This was a pretty easy swap out for the factory one and solved the issue.
