About this item

  • HIGH DRAINAGE - Our soil for cactus and succulents is specially formulated to promote healthy root growth and prevent root rot, making it the perfect choice for these drought-tolerant plants.
  • SLIGHTLY ACIDIC - This cactus mix is made with premium ingredients and has a pH of 6.5, as cactus plants prefer slightly acidic soil. This ensures optimal plant health for your cactus.
  • DEATH TO ROOT ROT - Our cactus and succulent soil is formulated with a custom blend of clays, sands, and a small amount of organic matter to prevent water-logging and promote healthy root growth, helping to prevent common issues such as root rot in cactus plants.
  • FUNGI - Mycorrhizae create a vast network of filaments that can extend far beyond the reach of a plant's root system, increasing the surface area available for nutrient and water uptake.
  • BLOOMS - Our cactus mix includes the addition of mycorrhizae powder to promote healthy root growth and bigger blooms in your cactus plants.

First, i waited nearly 1yr to leave this review. I wanted to see how my plants would do. Im really torn on this product. I ordered 2 bags of the Desert Blend & the first bag was a dream- everything I wanted in a cactus "soil". In fact, with a slight tweak, I was able to use in my succulents, as well. All those plants are THRIVING! However, the second bag was completely & totally different- night & day. Less pebbles, less aeration, more compact- almost gritty. I know they make other products- I can't help but wonder if it was another blend. All of those plants (2nd bag) are struggling. I'm so worried I'm going to lose them. I'm on the fence about purchasing again. I really wanted to love this!

Never thought a succulent mix could be so good. My seedlings and larger succulents love it. Great watering and drainage so I needn't worry about roots rotting.

It's great but I'd still recommend adding more horticultural lava rocks and more sand. My home climate seems to keep this soil moist for longer than id like so I added a large bag of lava rocks with some sand

I bought this to plant with white sage and possibly mix in with lavender. I have to say, it is a must have for the sage. I could be wrong but I believe it helped with the germination rate as I grew it from seed. Lavender doesnt like wet feet either, and I think this soil is a sure bet for it as well. Worth the money. Cant wait to try it with succulents and cacti!

I've been searching for a good soil mix for my cacti and succulents as the cheaper big box retailers only sell mixes with a lot of organic material and poor drainage. This potting mix has so far been wonderful for my cacti that are prone to root rot - such as my lophs. I even potted some de-grafts and they immediately took to this soil and started growing out roots and producing flowers and seed pods. It's a very fine mix with only charcoal and wood chips to hold water, so it retains just the right amount of water without the risk of getting root rot. We'll see how it holds up after a few years, but it's the right amount of drainage and nutrients so far for some good growth. It is expensive, but the type of cacti and succulents you should be planting with this soil are the smaller more "exotic" types that shouldn't be in large pots anyway. If you want soil for a larger cactus, such as a saguaro, you're better off buying a bigger/cheaper brand as that'll need a larger pot and it'll still do fine in generic cactus soil. But for my more expensive cacti in smaller pots, this is worth the price as only the best will do. I'm not going to be cheap on the soil for a $300 cactus that's only the size of a football.
