I bought this to use for potting my phalaenopsis orchids because of the size of the chips. After repotting one and giving it a good watering I noticed a couple days later the mulch had quickly dried out. I would attribute this to the thickness of the chips, about 2-3mm on average. I would recommend using this only as a decorative top layer.

The large is 2-6” and perfect for what I needed. Seems sterile and durable.

I spoke to the seller because the bag was printed with the words "mixed with other soil materials"—for" my tortoise I need—plain orchid bark. It turns out it was a misprinted/language type error. Indeed, this is pure, plain orchid bark... ( company was trying to say that it could be mixed with other soil materials, not that it was.) This is great stuff for my tortoise, very pleased with company communication too.

Arrives in a thin trash bag within the Amazon box which is sort of odd. I used this to make a custom soil for my citrus tree and had great results. Good value compared to other brands.

Item was just as described and delivered quickly. I put a 12 oz Arizona tea to show the size of the chunks. Smells great and I will definitely purchase again

My Bad! Should have done my homework! This bark is way overpriced which is especially sad considering it's moldy. There is visible moisture in the bag. I had to dry it out in the sun for two days to kill the mold. And get this ... this bark comes from CHINA! Do we not have enough Fir trees in the US (specifically the Pacific Northwest) to support this effort? And NO! There is NOT 9 Qts. of bark in this bag. Shop around my friends!

I ordered 29 quarts and measured out 24 quarts. However, the quality was good with minimal unwanted debris and appropriate small sizing. Will order more as suppliers are limited.I used the pine bark chunks as a potting soil mix for a buddah's hand citron tree. 2 parts pine bark to 1 part miracle grow cactus, palm, and citrus potting soil mix and a quart of worm castings for 24 quarts of mix. This was used to replace a prior mix of the miracle grow with sand that was too fine. I was losing 8 leaves a day on my citron, which stopped as soon as I replanted with the stated mix.

Great value. I always appreciate it when an item ships with a generous quantity based on the description and this didn't disappoint. I opened the well packaged bag and measured out 10 ½ quarts from the bag that was labeled as 9 quarts. The bark was dry and odorless and a good consistent size. No hint of mold and very little dust. I ordered the small nuggets and they were exactly as described. I would describe their thickness as thin, about like 4-6 sheets of paper, not like the chunky, full bark nuggets from a bag of landscape mulch. I compared it to the bark in a grocery store orchid I have and it's similar. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase again.
