This is a HELPER spring. These were a nice addition to my 20 year old truck. So far i have used my truck to haul full loads of wood, 2 yards of mulch and towing my travel trailer since installation. These things help the leafs alot and still leave some travel in the suspension. These don't turn your 1/2 ton truck into a 3/4 ton but they help alot.

I bought these helper springs for my 2005 Silverado 1500 extended cab, long bed with a Tommy gate. I had an extreme bounce in the front end as well as load capacity because of the added weight from the Tommy gate.Installation - It took me only about 30 minutes to install the kit. Tips : 1. spray the original ubolts with some penetrating oil to help expedite things. 2. take your time. 3. after the leaf is placed in and you start reattaching the ubolts (both new and old) don't tighten anything down right away. 4. make sure to adjust the new ubolts evenly on the inside and outside as its veryeasy to load the spring unevenly.I adjusted almost full preload on the system. leaving about only half an inch of thread all around. I noticed a slight raise in stance in the rear end. After driving, there was a noticable improvement in both front end bounce as well as overall handling.I highly recommend.

Hellwig 986 EZ Level Helper Spring Kit worked perfectly. The install went off without a hitch, all parts included fit properly and instructions were accurate. Although I did not need to jack up the truck. Leaving 1/4 inch between the helper springs and the truck leaf springs got me about an inch of lift. Have not done a load test, probably go get a load lime and post an update then.

a little disappointed with these helper springs. After reading reviews and getting info from manufacturer i was expecting alot more out of this product. I should have gone with airbags.. these things suck

Worked very well on my 2000 Silverado 1500, had a 600lb camper and towed my 6500 lb trailer setup with no more hitting the bumpstops! with it unloaded it drove exactly the same. Well worth the price!

***Installation review only***Installed these on my 03 Silverado 1500 ext cab. My U bolt threads were in pretty rough shape, so it took quite a bit longer to install than anticipated (2 hrs). Had to use a 3 ft breaker bar and torque wrench to remove my U bolts. Went slow so I didn't break the bolts. My truck is lifted 3 inches and squats a little when I tow our 5,000 travel trailer. I wanted airbags, but didn't want to spend $400 so went with these. Haven't had them on long or towed long distance, but so far they seem to do the job. Maybe lifted my rear up 1/4 of an inch in the rear. All-in-all they we're pretty easy to install and seems to be adequate for my needs. Seems to improved my ride quality a little bit as well. Time will tell how they hold up. Will update after our first long distance trip.

I ordered these up for my 2006 Z71 for 2 reasons. 1 was to raise the rear of the truck slightly and 2nd was so it wouldn't sag so badly with a load. These GMT800 1/2 ton trucks ride great unloaded because of the soft spring rates but I didn't buy a truck to drive around unloaded all the time. I found these and figured I'd give 'em a shot considering how affordable the price was.I've had 'em on my truck for about a month now and loaded or unloaded the truck rides great and looks good! I installed them with 1/4" of space between the main leaf and the Hellwig, which is their minimum recommended clearance (or max preload?). I have leveling torsion keys in the front to level the truck out and these 2 items paired together lets the truck clear 285s and still rides as well as stock (I have Bilstein 5100s and I'm going with it's better than it was stock).
