Works perfect! I got these because electric radiators are expensive and we needed to have some form of cheaper heat. So I had the bright idea of getting heat lamps. We live in a really cold, extremely expensive to heat house. This way when we get too chilly, we can just turn on a heat lamp and point it at our backs. My little plan worked out much better than I had hoped. If you’re in the same boat as me, you’re so poor and cold, get a few heat lamps. They are much cheaper than other forms of electric heat, but not free. Only use them when you absolutely must or they could make your electric bill creep up. But they are perfect for emergency heat. They are very warm. They put off a lot more heat than you think. I was actually sweating one day so I had to turn it off. I got a few of them for other family members to use. Pair them with a good heat bulb and you’re good to go! Also good for reptile and baby chicks 🐤 🦎

You have two screws that don't match holding the thong together. Both were stripped out instantly. Soft cheap metal.

Even though it arrived a little dented (seems to be the norm for these, as mentioned in previous reviews) Easy fix though - being aluminum, easy to bend back into place.Very happy with this so far, as it heats up really fast. My bearded dragon will be happy!Rated for 300 watt, works great with a 250 watt ceramic heat emitter.

I switched to using Ceramic Bulbs, for my brooder light, and this fixture works perfectly with ceramic bulbs. It doesn't melt (which is a HUGE problem with other fixtures)! I wouldn't listen to the idiots on those chicken sites about using cheap heat lamps for your chicks. Regular heat lamps melt, burst, shatter, catch fire, and kill chicks. Ceramic bulbs are just a little bit more expensive; but when you combine them with a fixture like this you will have safer healthier and happier chicks!

Basic clamp light, good value. Includes the wire heat shield. I used a few of these for 250 watt heat lamps.Socket is rated 660 watts, and is ceramic, so it can take the heat.Manufacturer probably rated it at 250 watts because of the heat of a heat lamp, not so much the power draw. So if you're worried about running a 250 watt heat lamp in a lamp "only" rated for 250 watts, this thing does have a lot of headroom. Decent heavy cord, ceramic lamp socket, decent stuff.

I gave this a 4 out of 5 because the aluminum was so soft that it dented from the least amount of pressure. When putting the cage into the holes, the aluminum dented and bent from just trying to insert the prongs into the holes. It's aluminum so it's soft, I didn't expect it to be that soft. I had another one from a local hardware store and somehow it was made to be more sturdy and it was not pliable. This was a couple dollars more than the hardware store. It was worth the couple dollars to save the trip. The softness of the metal is notable but doesn't affect the performance of the item if you are going to hang it and leave it. If you are going to throw it into a truck and move it from job to job - it might be very dented. I inserted my bulb and hung it up and it was fine after that so the softness wasn't going to be that important. The clamp was very strong and stayed where I placed it. The other lamp had stronger metal but the clamp was not as strong and it kept falling off, so this clamp was very appreciated. I ended up returning the item because the whole set up didn't work out for me but this lamp thing worked well over all.

Was packed and mailed in a box with many other items including canned dog food. This is the second one I ordered, the replacement. It came dented and the bulb guard was attached to it with zip ties. The little feet that keep the bulb guard on the reflector part were pointed out instead of in so it could not hug the reflector. I saw on the picture that the feet are out because they're inserted into holes that keep it into place. But there were no holes on the reflector part. I can't use it at all and when I called customer service they were no help. They told me that if I wanted to keep it they could give me a 35% discount but that's all they could do. I've never had poor customer service from Amazon until today. Very disappointed and now I have to go to the store to try to find a good heat lamp for my chicks.
