My Hayward 925ADC was delivered Aug 16, 2017. I hooked it up and it worked great! My kids quickly nicknamed it "Gary". My previous bottom cleaner would always get hung up on the stairs, but Gary just zips around the bottom of the pool keeping things nice and tidy. It's also much quieter than my previous cleaner. My pool is in a screened cage so there isn't any large leaf debris for it to suck up; just the occasional bugs and dirt that blows into the pool. After over a month with no issues, and to my dismay, Gary started to slow down. At first I thought it was an issue with my pump. Air in the system? Nope. Skimmer basket full? Nope. Cartridge filter full? Nope. The pump and filter was working just fine. Suction pressure looks good. Why then was Gary getting slower and slower each day? Today I finally decided to give 'ol Gary a closer look. When I took him apart I was shocked to find that the black spinning part in the middle (sorry, I don't know what they call it) had somehow separated into two parts, and each part was rubbing into the other, causing massive damage. Check out the photos. Gary was slowly destroying itself! Was it something I said? Further, the loose-but-still-partially-spinning pieces began to rub a hole through the main housing (also shown in the photos). I'm starting to wonder if I had received a defective unit. Gary may have been slowly dying since the first day I turned it on. I tried to look for a return option on Amazon but there doesn't seem to be one for this product. I thought that was strange since it's less than 2 months old. Most manufactures have a one year warranty on their products. So, I'm posting this info here to 1) let others know what happened to my unit in case they experience the same thing, and 2) hopefully someone from Hayward will reach out to me to help make things right.UPDATE: I was contacted by Hayward (see comment) and was instructed to take the unit to a local authorized Hayward distributor for a warranty assessment. The local pool supply store verified my purchase and said that all of the damage is covered under warranty. After a few days, Gary was ready to come home! It's been working fine ever since. The problem was fixed quickly and professionally so I'm changing my review from 1 star to 4 stars. Sorry, I can't give it all 5 stars after seeing Gary suffer like that!

When it works, it works great! It is probably just me, so bear with me. I had a pool repairman come out and connect the in-pool connection for the vacuum to the pump. For some reason, the original homeowner didn't do that? Weird. Anyway, I chose to buy my vacuum from Amazon rather than from pool repairman for cost reasons. I've owned several homes with pools, and I have always used Hayward vacs. It arrived, and I didn't read the instructions, because it seemed so easy. You put the hoses together, connect the vacuum, stick it in the connection hole in the pool, and turn on the pump. Bleed out the air, and it should start. But it only worked for a minute or two and it stopped. So, I began trouble shooting. Nothing was obstructing it. I could feel suction. I turned up the pressure on the pump. It worked for a minute and stopped again. WTF? So I pulled out the instructions, used the pressure measurement tool, it was fine. I took apart every hose and looked through for a large leaf or some other obstruction. I checked the vacuum unit again.Nothing. I used a screwdriver to turn up the level on the vac to 3. Still problems. I threw the whole thing back in the pool, and gave up. I looked out the next morning when the pump started, and....it's working perfectly! So, I don't know what the issue was, but it seems to have worked itself out. Pool is clean. I'm happy.

My Navigator Pro was delivered yesterday and it's working great. There isn't much to say about these Haywards that hasn't been sent before.... they work great, they are a little expensive, they require new pad / wings / shoes occasionally, wait for the rebate...I did want to point out that this model works with less suction than my previous Haywards, which I think is important b/c that allows more water to flow through the skimmer. I noticed right away that I had to divert way less suction to this cleaner than 'The Pool Cleaner' (which I was using as a demo, see my other review). Previously the bottom of my pool was clean, but I still had a lot of floaters (bugs, leaves, etc) on top. No longer the case with all the flow through the skimmer.... meaning less manual skimming for Dad!The Navigator Pro comes with a flow gauge to make sure it is working at the proper speed. In my case I can divert more or less suction to the cleaner or the skimmer. If you are running the Hayward through the skimmer only, you will need to use the supplied pressure regulator / adjuster.I installed the correct number of hose sections, then adjusted the pressure to the correct level, then hooked up Carla. I watched her work for about 10 minutes, then I went to bed. Literally set it and forget it. We named her Carla to keep with the theme of pool vacuums over the years: Carl, C2, Carlos, Taquito (the loaner Pool Cleaner), and now Carla. Please keep in mind that these cleaners will get jammed up by rocks and acorns, I've come to accept that. I have crushed granite in my yard surrounding my pool. If it's not the dog, it's the kids, knocking rocks in the pool. Occasionally I don't see it before the filter turns on. Just part of having a pool... I will take this minor inconvenience over having to manually vacuum the pool!
