I bought this product bc it was cheaper than the rest and I should have seen this as a red flag from the gate. My cat was an 11 month old, perfectly healthy boy until I used this product. Within 30 mins of applying the product (as instructed by the manufacturer) my boy started itching uncontrollably & the area become red and inflamed - extremely hot to the touch. I didn’t like how he was reacting to this medication so I got him in the tub and tried to wash it off with dawn dish soap and lukewarm water. Within 2 hours after applying this product my boys breathing became labored, pupils were unevenly dilated and he began drooling profusely & trembling - showing signs of a neurological problem. I wrapped him in a towel to keep him secure in my arms and began to drive to the closest emergency vet (9 miles but 45 mins in NJ rush hour) sparing the traumatic details - my beautiful little boy had a seizure and DIED in my arms while trying to get him to help. The emergency vet immediately asked if the product brand was ‘Hartz’ and continued to tell me how the brand is notorious for their products killing animals. A little research online after the fact taught me that over 30,000 household pets PER YEAR are killed by this brands products. I am disgusted that this product is still on the market! How can they continue to be allowed to sell products when they are proven to be more lethal than beneficial?! If you care about your animals, please, DO NOT buy this product. The only effectivity of this product is that I suppose it could be considered a cheap, painful, horrific & ultimately degrading alternative to veterinary euthanasia.Lastly, don’t expect anything more than a refund of your $30 if it does kill your pet. Hartz doesn’t care & neither does Amazon. They just want the leftover product back so they can resell it at a slightly lower “used” price. The sheer corporate greed and total lack of empathy are absolutely disgusting.Amazon & Hartz you both need to do better.

These are much cheaper on Amazon than the pet store or even Wal-Mart. They work fine, keeping my cat that insists on going outside free of fleas and ticks. I write the date I give my cat these on the cardboard packaging in ink, so I don't forget. However, they definitely wear off on schedule after about a month. If you forget, you'll notice your cat getting a couple fleas and scratching themselves.I've tried more expensive brands and the crazy expensive brand from the vet's office, but haven't noticed them to be any more or less effective. As far as I can tell, these all have the same active ingredients.

My boy's are 3 and have never had a problem with topical flea meds. However this product irritated their skin and had to wipe off. Was very runny and slimy compared to other brands.

when i put it on the cats I have one outdoors that starts rubbing her eyes and when Im putting it on it is quite strong so I end up havign to let it set a little bit on them but then have to wash the hair it got on. They wont stop scratching at it and start to rip big tufts of hair out if I just leave on to dry and be wet in their hair for too long. I think the smell along burns their eyes. everything is so expensive these days and I want to keep the nice ferals safe out there but.... at what cost... I think the packets for cats may be too much on the smaller cats I have. they are adult but small in stature, I sometimes will split a dose between them, just cause I feel bad they have to endure it. could be/ likely is irritating the skin or they wouldnt be trying to rip their hair and skin off at the site. its affordable. and it seems to work, just be mindful and aware and make sure they have plenty water access when dosing them. wish there was an easier better way that was also affordable. quite regularly I find that one of them in the package has leaked out as well so everything is all oily and now Im down a dose, not noticing until a month after I bought them, and they were in a box I had not opened yet, too late to return. weather from the store local or amazon. check your packages well.

I love the price and quantity you get with this product. My cat goes out periodically during the day. He gets involved in the most bug infested areas looking for lizards, etc. After a month with one application, he ha NO fleas.Yes it is smelly, oily and messy, but I believe the horrible smell is to keep the cat from licking it off. After it absorbs in, you can give them a bath if needed. My cat doesn't mind taking a bath or a shower (yes, weird).I don't like the applicator tips. Hard to tell if it is open or closed.
