I used this for about 3 weeks before it stopped working, I initially thought that maybe I had accidentally turned it off or maybe even unplugged the power adapter from the wall. I was using it for an archive drive so it wasn't really a pressing thing to see why it wasn't working until recently when I needed to find something archived and it wouldn't work no matter what port or anything I used.I connected the hdd using sata cables and it worked just fine so I know it is this enclosure/adapter that is bad. Save your money and buy something that will last you longer than a few weeks. At this point, I woul be surprised if this item isn't responsible for some customers' loss of data.

My pc crashed and wouldn’t load, it was pretty dated though so I ordered a new gaming PC. But I wanted my old saved game data, so I decided to buy this and give it a shot. Once I got the hard drive out of the old pc, it was very easy to put into the case. Then it was as simple as plugging it all up and turning it on. I did end up having to give permissions to myself to access my old desktop, but easily accomplished that with a google search. It does take a lengthy time to get permissions. But after that I was able to move my game saves to the new pc. And basically have another external hard drive now.

So far so good! I have this currently sitting on my desk with a SeaGate 2TB hard drive for all my video and photo files. I just plug it into my laptop and let it transfer everything. Very satisfied!

It’s a quality product, works for any type of hard drive you have, has a good reading and response rate, and doesn’t damage or corrupt the files, it’s easy to use, the storage capacity is really high and easy to remove

It did work well. It is continuously connected to a computer that is not turned off. The other day, it did not work. The drive was running but data could not be retrieved. Removing the drive and testing the drive showed the drive was working but the enclosure was not. Have to order another enclosure.

Why did I rate this 5 stars? Because it works! It is of the lowest quality but it functions exactly as it should. When it's just sitting there on my desk it looks totally fine. The power button works. The power supply works. My 8TB Barracuda was recognized without issue. It just works. But the real reason is the price. For $16 bucks you get an HDD enclosure, power supply, USB cable, the little screws that screw in from the bottom to hold the drive in the case AND the little screw driver to put the screws in! Ok. Full disclosure: I tossed the USB A - A cable. I think it was giving me an intermittent problem so I put a new one on. But that may or may not be an issue and is in any case a small thing, I have another drive that needs one of these. Without hesitation I am ordering another one.

I had an older 3.5 1TB Hitachi drive sitting around pulled from an unused PC build. Most of the enclosures online are $30+, I'm not sure why this is the case but 10 years ago enclosures for HDDs were anywhere from $20-25 max. Seeing this one at a good price and even better with a discount coupon I though I'd give it a shot. I'm glad I did because this is an excellent enclosure for the money. Build quality is really good, made of thick high impact plastic. Installation of the drive takes less than one minute and that includes using the supplied screws. They even supply a little screwdriver! The power adaptor jack fits snugly as well as the USB3 cable so there's little chance of accidentally pulling out. There's even non-skid rubber feet on the bottom to keep it from sliding around. A great deal of attention to detail was used in designing this enclosure. If there would be any cons I would say the power adaptor and USB3 cables could be about 6-8 inches longer, then they would be ideal. If you're in the market for an affordable 3.5 HDD enclosure, I have no reservations recommending this especially with the current discount coupon.
