Every camper and every outdoorsman should have one of these with them all the time. My family is big on outdoor cooking with fuel from the forest floor, which requires more work to prepare than cutting down dead limbs. I'm naming this saw as essential equipment for all of our micro and larger mobile living vehicles. It's exceptional quality and design are easy to stow and carry compared to our small chainsaws and hand saws for pruning. In other words by the time I get one of those out and set it up, I can already have a limb cut down and cut up with this hand saw.

I was excited to get this package, so that I can cut some thinner palm trees that we have. while this manual saw appears to be useful for typical branches, I couldn't get it to cut a 5 inch thick dense tree. I was able to go through maybe half an inch to an inch at most, but I'll try using it for other applications next time.

D-Rings broke in less than a minute after very FIRST use. Chain cut pretty well though for that short time.

Compact, lightweight, easy to use, very functional. Tested on a branch and it cut well with no trouble. Cubes in a very nice case and feels like a high quality piece of equipment. Recommended.

This is a very adequate set if you want to do some manual tree trimming in your yard. I have a saw, but I'm too old to be climbing trees. I also don't want to hire someone and pay a fortune just to get a few branches down each season. So I tried this set and it works great!

This is probably the most complete set for a manual chainsaw that I have. Well most of mine come with just the chain and a strap on either end to grip this has much more as part of the set. In addition to two large and comfortable handles, at least for my larger hands, this set also includes gloves, bags to use for throwing the rope over a high tree limb, two sets of what I believe is paracord and two clips for attaching the handles to the paracord. So when I used this on a branch it was about 20 ft in the air I called the instructions put some weights in one of the bags but it comes with, tied the paracord through the loop on the bag and attempted to throw it over the limb. Swinging it at the end of the paracord I was able to Loop it up over the limb. One problem I encountered is I wasn't able to get it as close to the tree as I would have preferred and it wasn't easy to get it closer once it was looped over the limb. I was able to cut the branch pretty quickly. I don't know I'd say this is a good manual chain song it works on higher branches. It comes in a hard case that is somewhat bulky so I wouldn't recommend it for emergency kits for bug out bags or even for camping just because of the size. If you need something around your house for trimming branches I'd say it's good up to that maybe 20 feet more if you got a strong arm and can throw the bag over a higher limb.

I do have a couple of mini chainsaws as well as a Chainmate. What I don’t have is this type of saw, one that could possibly save me quite a bit of money. I do have an extendable pole saw, but that is for smaller limbs and won’t give me the leverage I need. In part, the use of this saw will depend on how well I’m able to throw the weighted bags over a limb. Now, there are a couple of bags I’ll have to weight down with whatever I have on hand. The recommendation, speaking of hands, is that one should have another hand on board. Two people working this particular saw is the best option. Unlike the Chainmate, this chain can get stuck overhead. Thus, two hand are better than one.If you want to make this one into a Chainmate-like saw, it can be attached to the handles via the carabiners to the chain. Sounds a bit confusing, but is quite simple. There’s a single-page instruction sheet with the saw. It does come in a very handy double-zipped case. There’s also some gloves and a chainsaw sharpener. The price of under $50 on sale is very reasonable.

This comes in a nice little case that keeps things organized, two lengths of paracord, a little chainsaw file, two comfortable handles the chainsaw itself which has teeth on both sides which is good, the links have a bit of a twist to them which I think is intentional because they alternate direction to tilt the cutting teeth out. The design is notably different from a gas/electric saw chain. mine also came with two weight bags, and gloves.I have tried some rope saws in the past that were not much good to the point of just giving up on them. I think that this one may actually work.
