I bought these thinking I would only get one use in my kids lunches, work multiple times.

The knives were solid and didn't break easily. The blades weren't incredibly sharp, but angling the blade slightly allowed opening a box with one of the knives and also slicing up a piece of pizza with a different one without much effort. No one has reported having issues with splinters so far.

The forks are packed well for a nice presentation. They are sturdier than I expected and don’t look cheap.

These spoons were perfect to dip in chocolate! Used them for a hot chocolate bar - was nice to have a high quality product that was safe to put in hot drinks.

I have been slowly switching away from plastic for a few years, but wanted to switch over to non-plastic utensils in my classroom immediately when I saw the news about alarming levels of carcinogenic flame retardants in black household plastics, especially in relation to food.Students frequently use my microwave during lunch and sometimes forget utensils, which is why I try to have some disposable forks and spoons on hand. My concern with switching to bamboo was whether or not the forks could actually spear food like a typical fork. I read through many reviews, scrutinizing pictures, and finally decided to try these. Before I offered them to students, I used these forks 2 days in a row to eat a steak, potatoes, and broccoli dish, and they performed wonderfully! There is a slight “woody” scent/flavor at first, but you quickly become accustomed to it. I’m a “super smeller,” and it didn’t bother me after the first 1-2 mins.I have them on subscription now, put a few in a pouch in each of our cars for when we’re handed plastic utensils (especially black ones) while out-and-about. I’ve also ordered the spoons, and they’ve also been great. If I can rinse them off and hold onto them, just a quick hand wash at home (letting them dry throughly) allows me to stick them back in my lunch bag for another time. I’ve used some 3 or 4 times before they start to have small bamboo “threads” come off.So very durable, tines can spear as well as any sturdy plastic fork, environmentally friendlier than plastic, and you don’t have to worry about the carcinogenic chemicals leaching from plastics! It’s a win-win!

Read up a bit about bamboo before writing this, wanting to make sure I knew what I was talking about. 😊Turns out bamboo is biodegradable and compostable, AND bamboo does not require pesticides or fertilizers so that all checks out! Also, apparently, bamboo is the fastest growing perennial in the world. Who knew?!Happy to use just about anything other than plastic. The spoons are very flat, not great for scooping but other than that we were happy with the product.
