This USB ATSC 3.0/ 1.0 was classified as being compatible with the PC. This is misrepresentation of a product. Windows 10/11/12 recognizes the device, but Microsoft has not provided a driver for this device. There isn't a driver available on the GT Media, and or FreeSat.cn website.I also sense from the reviews and research that ATSC 3.0 is going to have a lot of limitations. To be honest, that's not worth the headaches for OTA programming. Therefore this product will be returned for a refund

I bought this relatively inexpensive tuner in order to test out ATSC 3.0 and when i received it the included USB A to USB C cable was broken but thankfully i was able to buy another one in order to get the tuner to work, and after installing the app i was able to receive all 1.0 & 3.0 channels in surprisingly great quality and the tuner itself is great (only minor complaint is no drm decryption but thankfully my area has most of the 3.0 channels drm-free so this isn't a huge issue for me), but the HDTVPlayer app sucks as it has a clunky user interface, few settings, sometimes sensitive signal mainly when in a moving vehicle, and a bug where on 3.0 channels it'll show a black screen w/ sound if the device's resolution is below the channel's signal resolution "like the Moto G Play for example which has a 1600x720 resolution" although it's not an issue on any 1.0 channels since the hardware/software decoding compensates for that (maybe fix it in a future update?), overall i'm satisfied but i'd rank it much higher if the software is fixed

I have had no issues using this product and I get all the channels on on atsc 1.0 in my area and atsc 3.0 channels. I love the signal meter to help you better lock in channels. If you want to use it away from your home, make sure you purchase a small antenna. The pictures show a small antenna that does not come with it. I was lucky to have a previous small antenna with a product that I had in the past and it works great with this product. Overall, I'm enjoying this product and it works great on phones and tablets. You can hook it up to a TV, but it's hard to nevagate with a remote.

I only had a small android pad and after downloading the app from google play, I plugged it in and connecting a small antenna and telling it to scan for channels I was surprised how well it worked!

Advertisement says android 9 plus. Tried on Android 13.0 TV Box. HDTV Player app comes up as not available making it useless.  Switching to an android 10.0 tablet the HDTV Player app was available.  Once downloaded and opened, but couldn't find or recognize the GD Media stick it was connected with power light was on. Searching the internet revealed even if it worked, it would be of limited use.A word of warning.  It is spec'ed to work for old ATSC 1.0 channels and newer 3.0 channels.  However, I guess the buyer is suppose to know many stations are moving to 3.0 encryption which it can't decode. That eliminates both FOX and ABC in my area with more likely to convert.

Love it. It even picks up channels from a new by city in 3.0 I didn't even know existed.

Be sure to check out my video review in the review section above! The HDTV Mate is a USB over the air TV tuner that currently only works with Android devices like Android TV boxes, TVs and smartphones. Currently it’s the least expensive ATSC 3.0 compatible tuner but unfortunately it doesn’t support the DRM encryption that broadcasters are using to lock down their signals. It can also tune into ATSC 1.0 broadcasts. The hardware has a USB plug on one side (for attaching it to the host device) along with a coax connector on the other end for an antenna. Also in the box is a USB-A to USB-C cable for smartphone connection, and an extension cable for smart TVs or TV boxes. For devices with a single USB port, like the Onn box I used for testing, an additional adapter will be needed. I use an Smays Micro USB hub that can power an Android box and deliver additional USB-A ports. The HDTV Mate also features an SD card slot for rudimentary DVR capabilities, although I couldn’t get this feature to work in my tests. The setup process involves scanning for channels, which took about five minutes in my case. The channel guide, while functional, lacks a polished interface. Channel tuning speed varies based on the viewing device used, but overall, it was reasonably quick. ATSC 3 channels took slightly longer to load than ATSC 1 channels. On both my Onn Box and Pixel 8 Pro smartphone, playback was smooth, although a 1080i ATSC 1 channel exhibited interlacing issues. The device worked well with my Pixel 8 Pro, offering a similar app experience as on the TV. The concept of a portable tuner like this is appealing, especially for situations like emergency response where cell networks might be down. No Internet is required to tune into unencrypted broadcast TV (at the moment anyway..).The GT Media HDTV Mate is not something I’d recommend for a primary tuning device but it does offer a viable portable solution for ATSC 3 and ATSC 1 channels on Android devices. While it has its rough edges, it demonstrates the potential affordability of ATSC 3 tuners. However, the future of such innovative products seems uncertain with the looming encryption and DRM requirements broadcasters wish to impose on consumers.

I have 3 ATSC 1.0 HD Homerun tuners and 1 ATSC 3.0 HD Homerun tuner. By far the picture quality on this GT Media Tuners is far better than the those tuners. The picture is brighter and has more of 3D affect and deeper color. The HD Homerun tuners may face some degradation due to the tuners being run over the internet in my home. I will definitely say it has one flaw. It can only be used on device so the cost would be prohibitive if you wanted a tuner on all of your TVs..
