Greenlee's quick change stainless steel hole cutters cut stainless steel quickly and easily. The quick change arbor allows you to change cutter heads with a simple push and a turn. Uses the same arbor for different size cutting heads. Removable cutter heads are available in sizes from 5/8-Inch through 3-Inch. Flange stop prevents over-drilling. Ejector spring on all sizes above 3/4-Inch makes removal of slug easier. Replaceable, cobalt-steel pilot drill with split-point tip to prevent walking. Never any problems with these bits and I use them on stainless steel all the time. A few people have problems with them breaking using a hand drill. If you are using these with the 645-011, the trick is to punch your pilot hole first without outer hole saw attachment. Most breaks happen when the outer hole saw first grabs the metal.

This pilot drill works great. No need to punch a center mark. Just place the center of the pilot drill where you want to drill, hold it steady and start drilling. I've done several holes in 18 gauge steel and each started exactly where I wanted with no wobble or tracking, exactly as advertised.

+These pilot bits are super hard. They will really cut steel.-These pilot bits are super hard. They will break with any accidental bending from a hand drill.I went through 3 of them in 5 holes. I drilled about 4 holes with the first one. The 2nd lasted 10 seconds. The 3rd lasted a little while longer (maybe one hole) because I was being super careful not to bend. I was drilling into steel (a vehicle frame), not stainless.They are probably well suited to a drill press. My recommendation is to drill the pilot hole with another 1/4 drill and use this for piloting purposes only. The hole cutter that this fits into is great. No issues.

These are nice pilot bits but don't lean too hard on them, they will either dull or break. Take your time and let them do the work. They change out quickly and there is no question when you have the flat lock down part of the blade secure.
