Works as advertised and comes with batteries, compared to another meter it is pretty much the same as far as accuracy.

There is a difference of about 7% humidity compared to my old one. However, since that one is old, I am not sure which is accurate.Regardless, a 7% difference if humidity I’m not concerned about. As you can see, this Hygrometer is in my carnivorous plants area in an inside greenhouse so I don’t have a magnet here to set it on. It does just perfectly sitting on the shelf right there.I like everything about this meter; its size, its light, and its readings. Hope this helps you figure out if this is the Hygrometer for you or not and wishing you lots of plant, and life Success!

I got this to put on my plant stand to get an instant idea of the surrounding humidity and temperature. The display is large enough that I can see the necessary readings from several feet away without glasses. It also has an option to show the max/min of both during the past 24 hours or historical, which is convenient and is in line with the trending arrows for each. However, two things to take note of. First, the magnet on the back is strong enough to hold the unit on a metal plane like a fridge door. But it's not strong enough to adhere if it's anything less than a 2x2" section. Since the support arms on my plant stand are only about 1" wide, it keeps sliding off. So it has to be placed on a shelf using the built-in support stand. Also, although the display is large and clear, once you begin to look at it from beneath the same height, the digits begin to lose clarity/contrast. I noticed this when sitting in a chair from across the room. Standing at that distance is fine but sit slightly below it and it becomes difficult to read. Even more difficult when the back light is on.Therefore, although I'm giving it an average rating; this is a decent unit, and it will serve my purpose for it. I recommend.

All my thermometers agree with each other and this one. My old hygrometer shows RH consistently 10% lower than this one, indoors or out. I suspect this device may be more accurate as that old one is also consistently lower than RH on weather reports. Hard to say as my area is seeing a run of 80-100% humidity. The backlight stays on for about 10 seconds when touch activated. Everything is clearly legible as long as the device is below eye level though that seems to vary a bit with lighting. There's a limited range of angles for best visibility. Typical of LCD screens.Device can be supported with its attached kickstand. Plus it has a magnetic back and a mounting hole (like for a wall clock).Seems to be a good product, losing one star for the the viewing angle problem.

Just goes to show how something inexpensive can still be very pleasing. I have a closet outfitted as a recording booth with guitars hanging on the wall and I try to keep the humidity up in there, but it's an on-going battle. So having a temp and humidity indicator I can see easily is a must and this fits the bill perfectly for a couple of reasons.1) Large screen size is easy to read, both temp and humidity2) Built in magnet pad on the back allows me to attach it to the side of a 19" rack so I see the readings when I open the door.3) LCD display is readable but for extra brightness, there's an on-screen light switch that turns on an amber back light4) Another on-screen button switches between Centigrade and Fahrenheit5) Another on-screen button displays 24 hr Hi/Lo vs All-time Hi/Lo temps and humidityI especially like that last one because I never really knew how well my humidifier was doing. I would turn it on in timer mode but then after practicing wouldn't be back in there for hours, so couldn't tell how humid it got in there. Now I know.I have some smaller ones that work well and were cheap, like 2 for $9 or something, but the size, the magnet, extra memory feature and backlight on this make the extra $3 or $4 worth it to me.One small thing I will warn you about in case you are mechanically challenged like I apparently am is that when you first get it you'll need to insert the included batteries. The little battery cover has an indicator showing you to slide it down to open it. Ok, now that I know it, I'm embarrassed to say it but you have to fold the built-in stand out in order to slide that cover down. I didn't realize it had a built-in stand and was using a table knife to try to pry that cover off when suddenly the stand flipped out and the cover popped off. I chipped a couple of finger nails before resorting to the table knife too, so just be aware of that stand feature.

Our old (> 100 years) house has very different temperatures and humidity levels in different rooms and different floors. I keep thermometers and hygrometers scattered around the house to monitor the conditions in each space and let us adjust room humidifiers et al. This MEPOWER device is an improvement over the ones we already have in that it is easier to read the display. The touchscreen and backlight are nice touches, although the information on the display isn’t much more useful.I gathered most of our devices in one spot to compare their readings after giving them time to stabilize; you can see those readings and their relative display sizes in the attached photo. I know from my decades as an experimental physicist that it is risky to compare readings from different instruments; they rarely agree as much as you would like. The six instruments in the photo give temperature readings ranging from 66 to 68.2 degrees Fahrenheit and humidity readings ranging from 29% to 35%, with the MEPOWER at the upper end of the humidity range but in the middle of the temperature readings. A few percentage points off in humidity is not a major concern and this MEPOWER gauge has several advantages over its competitors that justify my 5-star rating.
