Recommend 12” size for full coverage of 8” telescope. 8” is fine with a matte around edge. Sun color looks just like the picture in the ad.

Item was as described and gave me peace of mind during the 2024 solar eclipse, allowing me to capture amazing shots with safety and assurance. I was able to build a lens protector for each of my cameras. Though admittedly building a solar lens protector by hand is quite the process thankfully I probably won’t have to do it for many years!

I ordered this to create a custom cover for my Canon camera for the April 2024 solar eclipse and it worked perfectly.

This easily does exactly what you'd want it to do. It cuts easily to size and allows eclipse photography and videography. Nothing to complain about.

When held up to view with the naked eye it was "OK"? When placed over either of 2 scopes you could NOT see anything???!!!Waste of $$$$

This solar filter film is not flimsy like some other films, which make construction of a reusable solar filter much easier. its not prone to wrinkle and warp as much as the thinner films. if you are reasonably careful you can get a nice flat solar filter...I know it probably doesn't matter for sun observations, but it does help, your not dealing with a delicate super thin film that be difficult to position into place.

I made a filter out of this sheet for my 8" dobsonian. For an 8x8 sheet, it actually is a little smaller than the 8" aperture of my telescope, so instead i made a 6 inch filter. The result is good as my camera can capture the dark spot clearly (after some siril postprocessing).
