Useless product, waste of money. The product does not work alone and cannot be synced with the camera without a syncing cable. Product does NOT come with the syncing cable and it is impossible to find the exact one that fits the product or the camera. Items recommended by the support don’t fit. Tried to contact seller but specifics or link to the compatible syncing cable not provided. Useless product if you don’t have the syncing cable yourself.

Me ha gustado el flash; es muy ligero y potente. Me ha ayudado a hacer algunos retratos en condiciones de mala iluminación, ya que genera un buen contraste. Realmente es una inversión y opción muy acertada.

This is a quality accessory unfortunately the diameter of the ring did not work with larger lenses.

For some reason a lot of people give macro ring flashes bad reviews when they have very little experience in photography. That being said, this is not a beauty ring. And this is not a ttl high speed sync flash. So it simply will not work for portrait photography. That’s what a beauty ring flash is for. Also, this does not high speed sync. You will be limited to a range of around 1/200’s to 1/320’s depending on your camera. This means that any competing light from the environment may be captured by your camera/ sensor if that competing light is strong enough. If you need complete control of your lighting using shutter speed to create the effect you desire then you will need a high speed sync flash that will typically allow you to use max shutter speeds of 1/2000’s up to 1/8000’s.There are many option for using various flashes in macro photography using macro capable 1:1 lenses where your working distances will typically be between 1/2 inch to 18 inches from your objective lens. These include on (camera) shoe flashes either high speed sync or manual low speed flashes that use various types of diffusion devices either purchased or homemade. Another really good option (and one I use the most) is a remote triggered manual speed light ( Godox TT560II for about $60 on Amazon with a slip on diffuser that works perfectly). This requires one hand to operate the camera and one to position and hold the flash but gives a great deal of options for directing the light in your composition relating to both intensity and direction. And these can be used with various small light boxes and diffusers that mount directly to the flash and still allow for excellent one handed manipulation the flash unit around your sunbelt/scene. And, of course there are ring flashes that can be manual or high speed sync and can be triggered either by wire or wirelessly. This Godox ring flash is a very good option as a manual wired ring flash. It is very simple in design and function. And it will allow you to create the lighting you want within the limitation of the flash range of your camera (1/200’s to 1/320’s on most cameras). It takes a little practice to get it set up but a good starting place is to set the camera at the highest useable shutter speed with flash (say 1/200’s shutter speed) an aperture of f/11 and set the flash to the lowest power setting and an ISO of 100. Take a shot and see if you like the results. You can best adjust this type of flash using a combination of aperture (f/8 to f/22 typically) and the manual flash level adjustment on the flash trigger unit while leaving the ISO and shutter speed fixed. I would suggest pushing your f/ stop up to get your desired level of DOF (Depth Of Field) and then leaving that fixed as well. Then all you need to do is use the manual flash levels on the trigger unit to adjust the amount of light you desire based on the working distance from your subject/scene.Using any manual flash unit turns the exposure triangle into an exposure square. Which can make it harder to get your desired outcome. But it also gives greater control and expression over your composition.I gave this flash three stars simply because it lacks a modeling light which it really should have. A modeling light allows much more accurate focusing using either auto focus or manual. And it makes it easier/ possible to set up your composition.

I don't know if my unit was defective or if there is a giant learning curve to use this, but it overexposed every close-up image I attempted to shoot, even on the lowest setting. I can't imagine using this for macro photography. It did work well when shooting items at a distance or removing from the lens and using as a bounce flash. The adapter rings need to be machined wider, as it does create a vignette when the flash is mounted to the lens.

It's a good ring flash, not the brightest or most sturdily built but it remains affordable and has good cycle time. I'm using it alongside some softboxes with a cross-polarization setup on the flash to get nice flat images. (Killing some of the excess specular that hides textural detail on objects)Great for taking pictures of painted minis too!

I love macro photography and recently brought a regular speedlight (albeit a compact one) so that I could take it around with me; a bit of a pain, if I'm honest, with having the diffuser on it and trying to get the best light. Then I noticed this one a month after, and it was even cheaper, so I thought I would try it.I actually have 2 macro lenses over the years, a Nikon F mount and a Nikon Z mount, and there is an important thing you need to do with the Z mount lens; do not mount the flash to the lens part, which moves in and out, attach it with a larger adapter to the outer case. This is because it will put undue pressure on the lens and can result in lens motor failure. I did a lot of research on that, so I thought you should know.Loved the fact that it came with so many adapters, as I was a bit worried I was going to have to find some to fit my lenses. The light is beautifully even that comes out of it and really makes your picture pop, and the cable to the main unit is soft and flexible and doesn't pull against front. Very simple controls on the back to adjust the power, and so far, I've only needed the lowest setting for macro work, although I'm sure the higher setting will come in useful for portraits (not tried that yet).
