This light guide ring attaches easily to my TG-7. It lights up when the right setting is used. There is only one brightness setting, as far as I can tell. I wish it was a bit brighter, but it works OK.

gave my daughter an Olympus TG-6 and one of the coolest features is the macro mode. this light guide completes the macro setup and is so compact, she can take it anywhere she wants. its easy to snap on and it gives you a mini ring light for all the insect and flower closeups. highly recommended as a fun addition if you have a TG-6!

I got this for my Olympus Tough TG-5. One of the greatest features of this camera is the macro feature, and the light ring guide is a perfect accessory for it.The light ring guide is easy to attach and remove, and it fits securely with no movement. It is made of ABS and seems very well made and sturdy. In order to use it, you must turn the flash OFF on your camera. It turns the LED illuminator on the camera into a ring light, which allows you to illuminate closeup objects and eliminate dark areas and shadows. If you do much macro photography, this is an indispensable accessory for your camera. It is very highly recommended.

It fits the Olympus Tough TG-6 just fine, as advertised, and seems to do a good job redirecting and diffusing the LED light. THIS IS NOT A FLASH DIFFUSER. In the "flash" settings, there is a flashlight icon that, when selected, activates the LED above the lens and to the right (when facing the lens), when the shutter is depressed or a photo is taken. This piece of equipment is designed to take the light from that LED and spread it more evenly, it is NOT designed to diffuse the flash on the camera. There is a little bit of leakage around the sides of the piece that goes over the LED itself. The Olympus-manufactured light guide fits more tightly and the light does not leak out, but it also costs significantly more, so... I can live with it.

The Olympus TG series of cameras feature an extraordinary macro mode which can capture some excellent closeups. This light guide takes the LED illuminator on the camera and turns it into a ring light. Note: this light guide does not use the flash on the camera - it uses the separate LED on the camera that is there for closeup photography. The light guide latches on to the camera through the twist mount on the lens, so it is held firmly in place. It does exactly what it is designed to do, which is provide more even illumination for macro photography. It works very well in this regard, clearly illuminating close up objects. I have no complaints at all with it - it works as advertised, improving macro photography on my camera.

It’s irresponsible and irritating when someone posts a misleading review of a great product that they don’t know how to use, and gives that product a one-star rating while clearly demonstrating that they don’t understand it and have no idea of how it’s supposed to work.So my advice is to ignore the previous one-star “review,” posted on February 11, 2024, and pay attention to mine. The Product Description for this JJC LED Light Guide Ring clearly describes how to use it, as does the Users Manual for my Olympus TG-6. It is NOT a light and it does NOT “guide” light from the flash; it “guides” light from the LED Illuminator, a completely different and separate component of the camera. In fact, the PD specifically says, “Please do not use the flash when the camera is equipped with the LED light guide.”But the previous reviewer apparently missed this vital piece of information. He complains about this device’s fit and function and says that there’s a light “leak” from around the flash and that it delivers “VERY little” light to the ring from the flash. Well, DUH! It’s not supposed to do that! His statement that you “[p]robably have to use full power of flash exclusively” is totally wrong, since this product, when used correctly, DOESN’T USE THE FLASH! He clearly doesn’t understand this device AT ALL!My photos show how effective it is in directing the light from the LED illuminator, NOT from the flash, and its clear from the dark photo, exposed for the light itself, that there's VERY little light leakage. I’ve included some close-up pix taken without and with the ring; the difference is obvious. This is an outstanding accessory for my TG-6 that I’ll use almost daily. It should also work fine on other TG-series cameras, and, in my opinion, it’s as good as the brand-name Olympus LG-1 at half the price. What more can anyone ask for? And I strongly advise the previous reviewer to learn how to use products before he gives them totally undeserved one-star reviews.

I tried this product with a TG-5 model camera. The section intended to fit over the camera's flash does not fit snuggly. This can allow light form the flash to "leak", rather than being directed to the ring part of the product, which surrounds the lens. In Macro mode, flash can be set as low as 1/64th. i found even at 1/2 power, VERY little light came from the ring. Probably have to use full power of flash exclusively when using this ring guide product. i returned the product for refund. I'd LIKE to try the Olympus version, but for the little bit I'd use it, cannot justify the cost, so cannot comment as to how they'd compare.

It's frustrating that most of the negative reviews for this are from people who clearly didn't understand how to use it and tried to use the flash instead of the LED, because that obscures the real problem: it barely lets any light through. This makes the LED, which is extremely useful for taking closeups (for example for taking focus bracketed pictures of bugs), almost useless at anything more than ~1 cm distance. The pictures show a comparison of the LED with and without the diffuser; you can see that with it, the flap of the box essentially isn't lit at all, hardly distinguishable from ambient light.
