The Go Time Gear Survival Life Tent exceeded my expectations in every way! This two-person mylar emergency shelter is incredibly compact and lightweight, making it perfect for my hiking and camping trips. It folds down small enough to fit in my backpack without taking up much space, yet it’s spacious enough for two people in an emergency situation.Setting it up was straightforward, thanks to the included paracord. The mylar material does a great job reflecting body heat, ensuring warmth even in cold, windy conditions. I also appreciate that it’s all-weather resistant, providing a reliable shelter no matter the circumstances. The emergency whistle is a thoughtful addition, and it’s surprisingly loud—great for signaling if needed. This tent is not only ideal for outdoor adventures but also an essential addition to any survival kit. Knowing I have this in my bag gives me peace of mind, whether I’m out in the wild or just want to be prepared for unexpected situations.Pros: • Lightweight and compact • Easy to set up • Durable and weather-resistant • Effective heat retention • Includes a loud emergency whistleCons: • None so far!If you’re looking for a reliable, space-saving survival shelter, this one is a no-brainer. This is a protective shelter when there’s no other shelter available. I have it with a hiking backpack that stays in my car. If we should wander off the trail and need to stay out all night, this will offer protection against the elements. It’s designed for two people and should protect us from rain and snow. Don’t know for sure yet because we’re not lost and don’t plan to be, but even good plans can break down at times. The cost is low enough so I won’t feel bad if it wears out without even getting used, or if I donate it to the grandchildren for an outdoor overnight at summer camp. Happy Trails to all.

For the size of a can of pop it’s great to keep with you in the trunk of your car or in a backpack for hikes. The material is lightweight and sturdy enough to make a shelter and keep you warm. I honestly bought this on a whim and for the price it was worth it. It’s not an all in one so make sure you pair it with emergency blankets too.

I bought this for my go bag on the recommendation of an experienced backpacker. It’s reasonably priced, small and lightweight so it fits nicely in your go bag. It is open both sides and, like most survival tents, comes without poles and stakes. I didn’t realize that when I bought it. I gave it 4 stars because it will be a challenge to set it up. It’ll require rocks to hold it down and two objects to tie it up to! If you are in the dark with no trees that won’t be possible. It’s strictly emergency, last resort. Also, It says it comes with an emergency whistle which was not included in the box. Thankfully the rope was there. I thought about returning it. It says wind and water proof but two open sides won’t afford much shelter in a storm. I decided to keep it until I can afford a lightweight freestanding tent that will offer more protection. Be aware that it will require care to set it up on level ground with nothing that will puncture it. It has great reviews but all of them noted this. It’s durable but will puncture or tear if set up on sharp rocks, twigs, etc.

TL;DR: Pack- and user-friendly, 'best in class' for an affordable survival shelter.Quality item, well-sized, durable and puncture-resistant material. There are obvious limits to this kind of gear, but respect those limits and this shelter can handle a fair share of misuse and abuse. As per Murphy's Law, anything can be destroyed, but in the class of 'survival tents' the Go Time Life Tent rates highly in idiot-proofness. My rigorously scientific research includes setting it up in our back yard and letting my kids and wife at it. They've shredded other advertised 'indestructible' shelters, tarps, other gear, etc. (give me your indestructible knife, my wife will find a way), and the Go Time has handled it without more than a little stretching and a couple of tiny burn holes from the kids roasting s'mores a little too close to it. Like any tent, it won't protect you from a cold ground, so remember to have an insulative layer. (No sleeping pad? Soft vegetation like leaves, turf, springy branches will do.)Of course, as a 'survival item' it may well spend 100% of its life packed up. On that count, the Go Time really does manage to be lighter than its competitors, and compresses easily. (I swapped the paracord for 50' of 100# kevlar braided line and 2' of duct tape, which lightens it further and takes up 1/3 the size of the para.) Fits inside a small Trangia mess tin with room to spare for more 'survival gear.' In other words, it doesn't give you a reason to 'leave it behind' and not have it when you need it (which--Murphy's Law again--will only be when you don't have it).
