The BU-353-S4 is a USB GPS receiver that features a highly sensitive, low power consumption chipset in a ultra compact form factor. The BU-353-S4 is powered by a SiRF Star IV GPS chipset, and will provide you with superior performance in urban canyons, and in dense foliage. With the SiRF CGEE (Client Generated Extended Ephemeris) technology, has the capability of predicting satellite positions for up to 3 days in advance, and will deliver a CGEE-start time of less than 15 seconds under most conditions without any network assistance. The BU-353-S4's MicroPower mode allows the receiver to stay in a hot start-like condition almost continuously while consuming very little power.

Strong signal gathering capabilities without the need for power USB extenders. Had planned on mounting on roof of tall camper, but signal strength allows perfect location finding from 5 to 8 satellites when mounted inside the camper 2-feet below the ceiling that has aluminum trusses and several layers of aluminum foil insulation.

Works good and connects quickly from a cold start. GPS only. No GNSS. My only beef is that it seems to default to Sirf protocol and must be flipped in software to output NMEA. I used the Windows software on their webpage to "Factory Reset" the device. This causes it to switch from Sirf to NMEA.Port speed is 4800 so you'll have to run an stty command in linux to set your port speed otherwise you'll see gibberish. It

This product was plug and play. I had it working in minutes. The magnet mount made it stay on my dash stuck to a speaker grill.

This works very well in my application. I’m using it with my Windows 10 computer to provide location data for various programs. No trouble at all interfacing to the computer. Used the included 2” CD disk to install included drivers and a small utility to monitor GPS receiver output. Very pleased. It sits just inside a basement window which is under a deck and locks with 6 to 7 satellites routinely from here in Maryland. Seems very sensitive in that regard. Looking forward to using it with a laptop mobile in my car or portable in the field.

If you participate in Parks On The Air (POTA) and use a digital mode like FT8 or FT4, then this is a must need item. It will sync your system clock and provide your current grid square reference. You just need to download the software and purchase a license key.
