Fit my GE refrigerator just like the factory replacement filter at a fraction of the cost. I don’t notice any difference in taste or longevity from the manufacturer recommended unit.No downside, will purchase again.

These are high filter quality and gives good water quality overall. The filter functions great and is overall quality build. The ease of installation will depend upon your refrigerator obviously but seems quite durable.

I used aftermarket filters before. Depends on your model, aftermarket filters may or may not fit. There is no way to tell if it fits or not even it has similar part numbers. But I found aftermarket filters is slightly bigger than original so the filter housing will not close correctly makes the refrigerator water dispenser not working.

Yes, my headline is written correct. After adding to the Glacier water filter, I installed in lieu of the GE XWFE filter cartridge. As many who have discovered, my GE refrigerator comes with the NFC tagged filter that costs upwards of $50. This is no small price to pay, especially if changed at GE's "recommended" replacement interval. What really p ... uh, irks me as this is the same s ... uh nonsense that the printer manufacturers have done for decades and their print cartridges. Thankfully, and I hope GE doesn't take HP, Brother, Lexmark's initial route and make it more difficult to replace with generic cartridges. Only time will tell however. In the meantime, simple instructions and images for reference.Tools for the job: Sharpie, hairdryer and scissors.First, rotate the old GE XWFE cartridge to make visible the alignment arrow printed on the label. The arrow is pointing at the larger water hole inside the end. Now, align the Glacier cartridge in the same way, since the Glacier didn't have a printed arrow, we're going to make one in the same place. Close is good enough.Second, use the hair dryer to heat up the GE XWFE label starting with either edge; we're simply heating the adhesive underneath enough so that the label can be peeled off without tearing. My GE filter was warm to the touch when performing this so make sure to stop peeling and reheat a couple times.Third (optional), I used scissors to trim excess label. It's easy to visualize a rectangle around the metallic spiral, the two "wires" and the barcode looking bit. Also notice, we are keeping the two metalic squares the corners of my imaginary rectangle (marked in orange). I trimmed everything beyond this area. I did this to make reattaching easier. Finally, attach cut label by lining up the arrows from step 1. The Glacier can be installed and should work. If it doesn't, check alignment of the arrow. Looking across the end, the big hole should be towards you, the little hole away, the arrow points right down the middle of both circles.Well, I hope this review doesn't get deleted and it helps folks out.

Quality of this water filter is excellent. Tastes like water lol. Doesn't filter out the same impurities as the genuine GE filter but it's a very cost efficient alternative. My fridge (2022 model) requires a $50 water filter (for 1) that has a RFID chip in order for it to dispense water (shame on you, GE). Didn't know this when purchasing my fridge with the home builders. Had I known that, I would have looked at a different brand or model. Thanks to my fellow consumers who posted the tips/tricks on the internet. I was able to install this filter easily without any issues. Fits perfectly, no leaks & dispenses water. The fridge shows a "ERR" message and a red light when dispensing water however, that isn't an issue for me. Just keep track of when the filter needs to be changed. Keep your original GE filter, you'll need the label with the chip.

**I need to add this, I see now in the additional info under the description of these there is the statement "These are not a replacement for the GE XWFE cartridges", that was not there when I bought these in September and these were a suggested alternative. Based on several other 1* reviews, it seems I wasn't the only one to make this mistake as they were supposed to be a suitable alternative for the XWFE. I see they are now specifically excluded, which is due to others finding this out and returning them**We bought a new GE refrigerator last year and replaced our 22+ year old one (which was still working fine). Reading through instructions, I found the directions to replace the water filter every 6 months or so. I immediately searched for the specific filters (XWFE) and found it here, along with these Glacier Fresh filters. They were much cheaper (3 for 30, vs. 1 for 50) so I bought a GE filter and the three pack to compare.Last night out filter light came on and pulled one of the new Glacier Fresh filters and attempted to replace the existing one. They DO NOT FIT. When comparing the sizes, they are very close, the connections are different. The GE filter (on the right in the photo) compared to the Glacier are not compatible. I was able to seat it into the filter connection, but because of the lack of proper holes in the Glacier Fresh filter, the fridge would not recognize it and it would not reset the filter. This locked up my water button, I double checked it was seated (as best as it could be) and then removed it. I put in the new GE filter (XWFE) and it seated perfectly, and reset the filter mechanism. Because I bought these 5 months ago, I cannot return them and they were a complete waste of money.I will purchase ONLY the GE XWFE filters and ensure I have a couple stored for when the new one reaches its end. While I was careful comparing these, I found the statement "These are a direct replacement for XWFE filters", they are not. Just make sure you double check before you invest and open the package to see if a new off-brand filter is really a direct replacement option. Also, you should also read your owner's manual carefully, many models are eligible to receive a bypass plug, free from GE. I also found this out when reordering new filters direct from GE and seeing the bypass plug, (which allows you to use the water/ice maker without any filter) and it's listed for 27.00, but the comments/reviews mention numerous times this is a free product (per the owner's manual). I double checked and sure enough it is for mine as well. I called and requested it, (having registered the warranty when we bought it) and they said "no problem, it's on the way". Why it isn't included with the fridge is simple, so we'll spend the money on filters and hope you don't notice the bypass option.
