Package of some off-brand opto-couplers. I haven't tested them to their stated specs, but from what I've learned of these bulk generic packages (from various vendors) you should expect some dead units and for them to not be able to meet full-spec. I can't attest to that on these (again, not doing extensive testing) but if these barely meet the throughput you need for your project, I'd size up just from experience.

These are working fine in some sensors that I made.

Needed an optocoupler for a sensitive circuit. Decided to go all in and stock my electronics kit. I've only used two of them, but both worked flawlessly.

These are a mixed bag. Sure you get a lot, but I found some to be dead straight from the bag. Not sure they are genuine Sharp.

I only needed two so 10 was overkill- but they worked fine

These seem to be the sort of “standard” optocouplers now, the old 4n25-4n33 etc. line doesn’t have nearly as good specs. These are marked “sharp” and seem to match the manufacturer’s codes according to the data sheet, and they are marked with a rank of C, although who knows if they are authentic... so the real test was to actually measure the current transfer ratio. At a LED current of 5 mA, in my batch of 20 of these, the output current at 5v ranged from 11.7-13.7 mA with only one unit measuring lower than 12 mA. This is well within the spec of 10-20 mA for rank C. I didn’t try buying these from any other sellers so I can’t compare or vouch for anyone else but these from Gikfun, but I think it’s fair to say that these are good quality, even if they are not authentic Sharp.

So far so good, used them in a virtual pinball build and thier very durable, don't heat up. Good stuff so far.

Using it to link a motherboard panel to an Arduino for control. Works as intended. Not sure what else to say other than the fact I still have 18 of these things left over.
