Bought it in the summer and the machine didn't get to turn on until winter, no idea if it's running full capacity and can't refund. One time the basement was freezing cold

Continuous running and wasting water throughout slum pump every two minutes,I blow my pump in two weeks and I bought another for $80,I don’t think it is a good product to invest your money, even I set my humidistat at 42 % which is low ,if it takes lots of water and drain lots of water, I don’t know how much money I will pay for my next water bill

As part of renovation of our new home process, we got this Humidifier because the flooring people didn't want to install the hardwood without it. I have it installed for almost 2 weeks now and looks like it's working. Too early to comment on the performance as we are yet to move into the new place.

You may need to change the opening of an existing unit for this unit so you'll need to rework your sheet metal plenum. Unit runs off of AC and there is a cored of about 6' so make sure your have a receptacle available in the area. My furnace has HUM terminals BUT this this unit requires that the furnace be wired in series with the humidistat. This required purchasing a separate 24V relay as you cannot put any voltage on this set of terminals. See the attached diagram for the way I wired this. Note this may not be applicable to your case; you will need your furnace schematics to insure you are wire things correctly. You will also need a appropriate length of wiring for the 24v and HUM control signals. And of course you 'll need to plum to a water supply. In addition you will need a place to direct the drain water, which may require a small sump pump.Once you have the unit installed, and wired along with the Humidistat and connector to a water supply the operation with the digital humid-stat is simple and automatic. Do expect some noise when the large fan is running but nothing that would keep you awake at night

I had no issues installing this, other than that it's a pain cutting a large hole in sheet metal with tin snips. I traced around the install template with a sharpie and then cut out the big square. I used foil tape around all the edges inside and outside of the base plate. Luckily water lines are right next to my supply ducts so the plumbing was easy. My HVAC unit had a relay that triggers when it is running so I was able to use that to switch the humidifier off and on with the unit. I mounted the humidistat on the wall next to my thermostat because it's nice to be able to push a button and see the outside temperature from the temperature probe. I'm running it off of cold water and it seems to be on more often than not, but I also have wood floors everywhere (1800 sq ft house) so that is sucking up a lot of the humidity still since the house was at only 10% or less when I installed the unit. I have noticed it running less now that it has been installed almost a month and things have equalized a bit more. If it doesn't get much better in the next month I might switch it to hot water because I use geothermal heating and the supply air temp is only like 90F as opposed to typically well over 100F for normal oil/gas heat. Overall I like the unit, especially the humidistat, which is easy to use and has large, clear backlit numbers. The fan noise is not noticeable over the HVAC unit when my heat is on high speed, on low it's only noticeable if you listen for it and my utility room is off my kitchen, if this was in a basement you would never hear it.

So far works well. Humidity is noticeably up. Digital humidistat seems to work fine. Only issue is the amount of water use. I'm considering making a recirculating water resevoir driven by a fish tank pump. Fan is a bit noisy but not objectionable. Well designed unit and easy to access and service.

I installed this humidifier after my HVAC system had to be replaced due to Sandy.I have a down flow system so I installed the humidifier in the AC coil section of the furnace. I installed the humidistat in the return duct to minimize the wiring to the humidifier. It is connected through a relay on the furnace control board so it only runs when it's called to. I ran a hot water line to the humidifier for better vaporization. My furnace is in the garage next to my hot water heater so this also simplified things. The thermocouple wire for the humidistat was run through a drilled hole in a door frame to reach outside. The hardest part (which was easy) was cutting the opening for the humidifier in the furnace panel. I used a jigsaw with a sheet metal blade. The provided template made this very easy to lay out and cut.I have a separate inside humidity/dew point meter on a Ambient Weather weather station display inside the house. The humidity increased as it should, when it should. The product seems to work great, keeping the interior quite comfortable on dry days in the winter. Can't beat a 10 year warranty either

I bought the Generalaire unit over Honeywell or Aprilaire since it comes with the best humidistat by far. The E2 humidistat has an outdoor temp monitor so it can calculate the dew point as the weather changes. This is very important if you live in the northern part of the country where temps change daily. The instructions are reasonably good. If there is anything you don't understand or need their customer service line is top-notch. I called twice and had my questions answered right away. The installation is fairly easy. They say you can use hot or cold water but I recommend to only use hot water as this will give much better evaporation and won't cool down the hot air which forces your furnace to fire longer. Two issues I had with it. One was that the collar on the outlet of the solenoid was not tightened at all. This allowed water to leak until I tightened it up myself - but this should have been done at the factory. Other issue is that the fan is somewhat loud when it is running. Not terribly noisy but I can definately hear that the unit is on even from a distance. But other brands might be just as loud - I don't know. This unit has alot of advantages like a 10 year warrranty so I heartily can recommend it.
