If you want to save water and increase humidity this is the humidifier. I have a larger house and with my old humidifier set at max, rooms were hovering at around 12-15%. After installing this unit ( with the same cold temps outside )the humidity increased to 28-32%. As far as water usage i was so happy with the small amount of water going to waste due to the internal pump recirculating water instead of just wasting it. The noise as some stated. You will have some noice from the internal fan if you sleep close to the furnace but come on, it’s not loud. There are 2 settings to set the fan speed. For me it’s not bad. Bottom line. To have some real impact on humidity in the winter time you need large humidifier with it’s own fan like this unit. What a relief to your body and your house. Could not stand that dried air. There is an app to help you install this unit yourself called “Bilt”

Does an exellent job humidifying the house and uses significantly less water than the previous generation model. I paired it with a smart thermostat to allow it run even without the furnace heating and it's able to keep my house humidity exactly where I'd like it. I had to install it on the return side of the furnance as we have a downward facing furance on a slab ranch, but using the hot water line, it's able to still humidify the house well. Excellent machine!

Works very well. This is the 3rd House I installed a humidifier in. They have gotten better each time. Poor instructions though. Fortunately it was old hat for me.

This unit replaced an older model Aprilaire unit. The opening required for this unit was smaller than to old unit, so some sheet metal work was required. The water inlet valve was on the opposite side so required a bit more plumbing with the copper pipe. The first unit I received had a defective valve, so no water was entering the panel. I requested a replacement unit that worked fine.I agree with another reviewer. The removable plastic door to access the panel is flimsy and doesn't latch or seal well. This is not a cheap unit, but the design is poor and not very sturdy.Seems to work fine. However, I'm concerned about the longevity of the valve and orifice assembly. It's prone to getting clogged. I searched to see if replacement parts were available for this unit but couldn't find any. That's a concern if the valve or orifice clogs or the valve stops working.

We put in hardwood floors and needed humidity while heating unit dried out the air. Love the recycling of the water so as to use less. It’s pretty simple and has brought the humidity up to 44% from previous low 20’s.

Arrived as described and works much better than the 700 it replaced. My house is finally the right humidity level. The only negative is that the unit makes noticeable noise.

There aren't a lot of reviews of the 720 since it just came out in September so I wanted to share my thoughts. I got the unit because of the 60% less water usage and really liked the idea that this can recirculate water as the 700 and 600 use an alarming amount of water when humidistat is set to 6 or 7. I had initially contemplated DIY'ing a small fountain pump into a 700 but with the 720, the unit already does this. Compared to the 700 it is the same cut out size and wiring is exactly the same which is nice. Someone could easily swap these out in under 30 mins if you have a 700 already installed.Pros: The 700 uses ambient area and blows them in. This makes the 700 louder and I can hear it in other rooms of my finished basement. The 720 is completely enclosed so it is a much quieter unit, barring the 1 con below. It uses significantly less water to achieve the same result of the older models is the #1 reason to get this. If someone is installing a new humidifier I think it is a no brainer to get the 720 unless you're going steam with the 800 model.Cons: The unit has 1 con and I think folks should know before buying this. It sounds like a freight train when initially installed. The cover doesn't have an airtight seal so where air leaks in, it whistles. To put it in perspective I live in a 4200 square foot home and my wife came down when I first powered it on because she could hear it from the upstairs. I used foil tape to seal around the unit to the hvac (the instructions says use caulk but I would recommend foil tape to ensure a good seal) but also tape all the edges where the top cover meets the unit. I'll submit a pic but it looks like a complete hack job with foil tape all over the unit, but it is airtight and dead quiet when running now. If Aprilaire sees this please consider using insulating foam strips or something to create an airtight seal with the outer cover and main unit so users dont need to diy a solution to solve this design flaw.Otherwise the 720 is great, saves on water, and is much quieter once perfectly sealed up. Hope this helps folks looking for a review on the 720.
