Installation guide

What kind of power cable and transformer should I need?

e.g Suppose there is a set of 4 spotlights (each 3W) and 2 path lights (each 4.5W) that need to be installed in the garden, How do you choose the cable and the transformer?

1. Add the individual light fixture wattages for all lights. 4*3W+2*4.5W=21W

2. The typical distance between two lights is 6-8 feet, but closer or farther is ok too. Based on the above diagram, 6 lights total watts in 0-60 should choose 75-100ft 16AWG power cable.

3. The transformer is large enough to support the Total Fixture Wattage, it should be the best usage within 80 percent of the rated capacity. So in this case a 45W transformer is enough.

Note:

  • Bulb: In the 1-pack item we include a standard 2700K-5W bulb. Other brass spotlight series use a GU5.3 bi-pin base, you must purchase a matching MR16 bulb separately. For MR16 bulbs, it is important that you choose a pointed bi-pin rather than a flat bi-pin, as flat bi-pins may prevent the bulb from being installed and cause damage to the fixture.
  • If you need to mount it on a tree trunk or outdoor wall, purchase a mounting plate, 1/2 NPT thread size, and search keywords: Mounting Plate for Landscape Spotlight.
  • Price: If you buy multiple packs, you will get more discount than single pack.
  • Projection: Beam angle is not limited by the product, you can choose different angles of the bulb according to different use scenarios.
  • Working: The working voltage is 9~17V, so the spotlight usually needs to be connected to a 12V transformer to work properly.

We installed these lights outside our home and it made our home so beautiful and bright at night! Our neighbors have even contacted us to find out where we bought them. So easy to connect and install.

I chose these landscaping lights because of their style, brass & bronze finish. They are very sturdy and the seal for the bulbs is certainly tight enough to keep out any water in from both sprinkler systems and storms. The Bulbs were easy to install. The stake is made of very thick/heavy plastic and screws onto the light. These lights look and feel durable and suspect they will last years compared to those much cheaper sets I have seen in local stores and here on Amazon. You get what you pay for and although these lights will cost you a bit more, I believe they will outlast anything else on the market. That is another reason why I chose these. I ordered white lights for most of the year and RGB for holidays. LED means I won't have to change them for years. Only downside is that they don't come with connectors to attach to the main wire that connects to your transformer. You can order them right here from Amazon.

These lights were perfect for my backyard lighting update.I bought multiple sets—- for uplifting on an archway and even to illuminate large redwoods to add depth to my yard.Quality is great. Double seal on the lens. And simple to install.

The lights are excellent; beautifully made, sturdy, should last a long time. They clearly stated that the bulbs need to be purchased separately but this was the first time I’ve bought landscape lights that didn’t include connectors. But more importantly, some instructions with the lights would have been helpful, because the bulbs have a 2-pin connector and normally you would push those pins all the way into the holes. I broke a couple of bulbs and damaged (but was able to repair) one of the lights trying to push them in, and finally realized the pins only need to touch the holes and the light is meant to be held in place by the clips on either side, plus the pressure of the lens cap when it is reinstalled (takes some elbow grease). Not at all intuitive. Add an instruction page!!

These look good, and the construction is sturdy. My problem was that the specified bulb would not plug into the sockets. The pins line up with the holes in the socket, but the bulb will not push into the socket.

Really liked the outcome of how the lights worked, teamed them with lionite lights for flower bed and sitting area, adjusted the lights to aim more at trees not at house, should have installed them a little closer to the trees, will maybee do that in future, or if wife keeps insisting. Great value and quality lighting.

These are very nice lights that are stylish and solid. They appear to be built to last for years unlike some other landscape lighting I have used in the past. They come without a bulb so you can select the 12V, MR16 bulb that you want to use. In our case, I used the 2700K Warm White, 5W bulbs to match the kelvin in other lighting I already had in place. I used low voltage quick connectors to attach the lights to the existing 12V line I had installed for this purpose. Four of the lights were used in the four corners of a pavilion to highlight the cedar ceiling. Two of the lights were used to highlight a water fountain. The remaining six lights were used as under-lighting in oak trees. They provided just the right amount of lighting to highlight the limbs in the trees, but not overwhelm the area in light. These lights were an awesome compliment to the Gardencoin Low Voltage Pathway Lights we used for the walkway to the patio area.
