I have a 23 year old garage door seal I replaced. It was a little bit of a pain to slide in but the dish soap did make a difference. It took around 40 minutes to get installed on our large garage door, which nearly used all the seal in this kit. The rubber does feel durable and at 42 degrees outside it was a little stiff. I believe that's why there is a little light coming through the bottom, but I expect that the seal will close more as it relaxes and forms under pressure.Very happy with this seal and I fully expect it will last as long as the previous one I replaced.

We had an old (25y?) gasket on the bottom of our 16' electric garage door that was so busted up that rodents could waltz in and out without obstruction. So could water and leaves and everything else. It's not that there was a gap between the door and the ground so much as just a broken seal.I'll cut to the chase and then tell you the story below that's full of "if I knew then what I know now" tips. The product is robust, soft, solid, and well-crafted, which is precisely what my garage needed. It appears to be of outstanding quality, and they have nailed the balance point between strength and flexibility just right. The ONLY issue I have is that the instructions are a bit unclear as to which way is the correct way for installation. So, see my photos if you want to see for yourself what's correct. Now, the saga (NOTE: ALL MY fault... NOT a problem with the product!)I was so excited to receive the package (professionally and modestly packaged), that I went against my surgeon's suggestions to lay low (after a rotator cuff surgery) and began the installation. As suggested in my review title, I believe that if you are fully operational and/or have a second person and are knowledgeable (I am none of these things), you can easily remove the old gasket and install this new one in under 15 min.Tools I needed:- spray bottle with dish soapy water- brush (they supplied)- screwdriver/ladder to adjust electric garage door down-limit once installedSo, all that said, it took me two hours. Again, I was doing this one-handed, AND I was way too impulsive to wait a few hours for my family to return home and help. So, it took me a while to remove the old gasket after 25+ years of sitting there and another 20 minutes to merely slip the simple gasket fitting into the slots. (With two working arms ... this whole process would have taken minutes to seconds.)Then, once the gasket seal was correctly installed in the two slots at the base of the garage door, it was hard with one hand to feed the 16' of gasket across the metal slots. So, I did something really stupid and got some WD-40 (DON'T DO THIS!!) and sprayed it in the slots and eventually worked the 16' seal across the garage door (another 20 min) and, with great pride, claimed, "That wasn't too bad." With a sinking suspicion, I decided to look up if WD-40 plays well with rubber and WD-40 DOESN'T PLAY WELL WITH RUBBER.So, not much for reading instructions before I do installations (only after when I screw up), I saw they clearly said in proper English to USE DISH SOAP AS LUBE. So, in a bit of a panic, I removed the gasket and used soapy water, the brush, and rags to clean out the WD-40 (another 20 min). Then, now armed with my spray bottle of sudsy water, I reinstalled... noting that the second time was easier (about 15 min total) .... and voila! It was on, and the seal was GREAT!!!! against the garage floor.Using one hand and a machete, I cut the excess (they provide about 16' and 4" or so) several times because each time I cut it wrong, reminding myself three times to measure twice... cut once as I used my one hand to cut, cut again, and cut one final time. (Fortunately, some lovely Jehovah's Witness folks came by (one hour), and as they were leaving, I asked the guy to finish my cut! (I converted in exchange.)Now, seriously proud, I closed the garage door, and the moment it hit the seal, it stopped for a half-second and then opened again. It was at that point that I began to learn that garage door openers have lower (down) limit switches. To be sure I didn't mess anything up, I called my garage door company (after looking at several YouTube vids that never hit the bullseye) and they eventually (20 min) told me simply how to make the adjustment (2 minutes with a screwdriver and a ladder)... andVOILA!! Now, it is super perfect, and I can't believe I waited 15 years to do this.GREAT product. If I had five more garages, I'd buy five more of these! (And with two working arms and all my mistakes behind me, I bet each wouldn't take more than 5 to 10 min to install!)UPDATE: See the photo where the water is kept on one side (the outside) and it's dry on the other side (the inside)? That has never happened before with my garage and the old gasket we used to have. This gasket kept the waters (not flood waters but a lot of rain for around here) OUT of the garage! That's a first in 15 years of living here. I'm falling in love with this seal! I hope this helps.

I actually had to trim off about 6” or so after installing this piece (which is much better than it being too short). It fit easily into the grooves on the bottom of our garage door and has been a great drop-in replacement of the old one (probably the original from over 30 years ago).

Garage Door Seals Bottom Rubber are thick and sturdy. Installation will need 2 persons to install. Easy to cut to size. The garage door seals are seal the floor much better than mfg. seal. Well recommended.
