Freud's precision ground carbide bits have a grain size smaller than other grades, and titanium is added making them impervious to chemical attack. Promoting safer woodworking is the reason Freud made a commitment to develop anti-kickback router bits. Bits are computer balanced to insure vibration-free operation at speeds that are a safe margin above the typical 22,000 RPMs of most routers. Freud's philosophy is woodworkers should expect safety, not pay for it. Overall diameter 1/2-inch, shank diameter 1/4-inch.

The build quality in durability of these Freud blades is amazing. They always are very sharp and hold up to abuse. Freud has very competitive pricing. The case it comes in is really nice.

I used this with a Bosch router and a homemade pattern on 3/4 pine. It did a freak job with a smooth, flush cut. You have to move it slow and steady if you’re taking more than an 1/8th in or so in width. I sanded the edges with 220 grit after a pass with this bit and it was ready for finish. The top and bottom bearing lets you use a pattern on top or bottom. I cannot comment on longevity just yet.

Overall the bit is good quality and produces a clean cut. The durability is acceptable as long as you aren’t trying to hog off too much material at once. I use my routers on a daily basis and this bit has held up well.

The cutter is 9/16” dia but the bearing is 5/8”. I specifically bought this because I wanted a 9/16” bearing to use on other 1/2” flush trim bits, to act as a first rough cut. I’ll keep it because I’ll likely have a use for the opposite effect of what I’m trying to achieve.
