The Yonico 14982q Top and bottom bearing router bit is great for all your trim applications. This bit can be used with either a top or bottom template. Especially useful for template work when routing rounded or curvy wood with sensitive end-grains. The top and bottom bearings allow you to flip over the wood stock When you reach "up-grain" And rout that segment in a "down-grain" Direction, maintaining uniform smoothness around the work-piece.

The reason I rated the item as a 4 rather than a 5 is stated below. While I'm a big fan of Yonico router bits, my latest purchase a 14982Q 1-1/2" flush trim was a disappointment.First use - While making a edge clean up cut the screw that holds the guide bearing came off and the bearing followed it. The router bit gouged in and ruined my edge. I looked at the tapped hole on the router bit and it was ruined. Bit isn't salvageable.Should I now have to check every new purchase or was this a 1 in a million defective part?Hopefully getting a free replacement from Amazon/Yonico isn't going to be a hassle - right?******** FOLLOWING UP *******The Good News - Got a replacement in 3 days!!THE BAD NEWS -Had the same thing happen with the replacement bit, end guide bearing came off on the third piece I was routing, scrapped another part, DO NOT BUY THIS.

Ya la recibΓ y desde que la vΓ se ve de gran calidad, el filo es muy bueno, los baleros giran como debe girar un balero. El acero se ve muy fuerte y muy bien trabajado. Muy buen broca en verdad.

For your safety please tighten those bearing retainers -- top and bottom --and use LOCTITE to make sure they stay put !I used this flush cutting bit to shape an ash guitar with a maple cap, 2" thick. the top bearing retainer came loose about 60 seconds into the cut, and the bottom retainer came loose about halfway through the job even though I had snugged them down prior to use. I fixed each with loctite purple (firm but removable). no harm done but it could have ended badly in either a ruined workpiece or injury (and that is a big, scary bit when spinning!)That being said, the bit is extremely sharp and durable. Ash is very hard and will dull most bits quickly. this one made it through the job, milling away about 1/3" of material around the circumferance -- a lot of cutting. tip: dial back the cutter speed to find the balance between cutting and burning. but dont set the router too slow or you risk sniping and tearout. watch your feed rate : slow and steady wins the race.it's a tough bit -- the 1/2" shank surely helps durability. I touched it up with a diamond stone and it is ready for another job.overall: it's a great tool, great value.

Really long flush trimmer, heavy duty 1/2" shank, guide bearing top and bottom. I bought this for a throw away bit, I am currently making a LOT of plywood cabinets, and several ply deep counter tops, for a shop redo. I have a 32 x 48 woodshop, and I didn't like how I had it, so redoing everything, and doing it with a lot of cabinets, a TON of plywood.I have higher priced bits I wanted to keep safe for just solid hardwoods, and figured I would try this really low price bit to see if I could get anywhere with it on all of this plywood. Maybe it's different for you, but for me plywood is by far the toughest material to edge route due to the swapped grains, and all that glue. It absolutely kills cutters, or at least dulls them till they hardly work anymore, and need sharpening. So far I have done about 114 lineal foot of 2 1/2" thick plywood edge laminated for counter tops, and this thing doesn't seem to be having any problems. I have to admit my favorite high priced bit may not have done this? Am I suggesting to never buy the higher priced bits again, probably not, but I certainly will give these Yonico bits a look-see before going to a "cheap router bit place" ever again, because the "cheaper router bit places are not so cheap anymore, and they are still not quality bits, This bit is every bit as good as they are, and so much lower priced, they will be my secondary source for bits I don't plan to use all the time, or on bits I plan to use on destructive materials like plywood, OSB, MDF, MDO, and non solid wood types of material.Good job Yoniko, keep the quality there, and the prices low, and I'll sing your praises

Upper bearing (farthest from shank) burned out and broke ten minutes into a simple flush cut of 1" polyethylene, and poured hot steel balls down the hole in the router table. Who knows where they ended up - possibly in the router itself. An annoyed email from me via the company's website (precisionbits) at 6:00 on a Friday evening resulted in a quick reply from "Jonathan," with an offer to send a replacement bearing on Monday. His helpful emails continued through the weekend at odd hours, so Jonathan likes to respond to work emails while he's out partying, or perhaps he's in Asia. The bearing should not have failed but the blade was fine, and this response was as good an outcome as one could expect. That upper bearing is a *standard* size "B8," which is 3/16" ID x 3/4" OD, but it is not a *common* size. It is not available at McMaster but it is available on Amazon (though not via Prime), and as one of Jonathan's emails mentioned, from the precisionbits website under "parts."This bit's tall, double-bearing design is an extremely useful style that I wouldn't mind owning two of, so I ordered another for Sunday Prime delivery to get the current job done, and a few extra bearings to have on hand although the delivery will take a while. If the bearing on the second bit fails quickly again, the whole set is going back to Amazon and I'll complain about it here.
