Natural skin head drums sound better, but are sensitive to humidity. This drum comes with a simple Allen wrench to tighten or loosen the head depending on where you are. The frame is solid and the rawhide cross backing is easy to hold. The beater is nice too, good sound, lots of sounds you can get out of this drum. I must say it took me a while to learn its voice. Worth the trouble! Can use for music, trance, or just ambience equally well.

In love with this drum! Arrived on time, in good condition. Very lightweight, I am able to dance with it. It also has great sound and is well made. Suitable for beginners and advanced players.

This drum is beautifully made and has a long ringing, gorgeous tone. I got it for my husband for Father's Day (I can never wait for these things). Drums ae very perso al things, and this one resonates deep in our chests now that it is tuned to our liking. We were able to make it match time with mine

I love this drum! I am not typically a musically gifted person, but I was able to tune this in a few minutes. The sound of Thais drum is amazing and can occilate from quiet to incredibly loud and powerful. The backside of the drum (Handel) looks as thought it’s made of hard, dried, animal material, but seems sturdy. I was actually thinking of wrapping it with yarn for a more comfortable grip. Easy fix to make it more personal, comfortable and sturdy!

Never had a frame drum before. It came in good order and since I have no experience I've been tightening up the head gradually, just enough each time to keep the sound even all the way around. I'll worry about the exact pitch a bit later. Learned how to do that on Youtube, as well as the main sounds, Dum, Tek, Key, Paw, Seki (or however they're spelled). I'm using this for medieval dance music. So far so good and am very happy with it.

A great price for a tunable frame drum. Head is glued inadequately to frame, however, to tighten to desired pitch.
