Not only is the camera great the software and free download app is easy to use and has a lot of options even export to excel. for people that are using this as a tool not a toy for taking selfie's also it has many color schemes for those people too, which was also helpful to me for seeing heat waves going up a hall. It's much better then what I had before. Also I has a nice case to store in, and protect it i recommend buying a type C- male_female type C extender . If you have any case on your phone at all it most likely will need an extension

Not going to lie. I bought this for my ghost hunting and Bigfoot research but I also use it to find cold spots inside my house so I can better insulate it. So practical. So easy to use and so cool. Especially after dark. Very very good quality

it wouldn't connect to my phone or 2 of the PC's I have here. There are no led's or anything to indicate it getting power or connected. Returned it and just ordered a replacement. Fingers crossed.

I've been elated to use this thermal camera. It has to be paired with the manufacturers app which isn't perfect, but for the price of the system, it's pretty good. The app is free and I haven't seen any ads (it better stay that way). The app allows a lot of flexibility with settings and storing pictures is easy.We used this system to find a lost chicken in our backyard (Atilla the Hen) one night after she didn't come in the roost. We searched for an hour before remembering I had this camera. Maybe 10 min later I noticed that one bush under the deck glowed brighter than the others and sure enough, she was under it. The camera survived the ensuing wrestling match as well without issue. Glad I had this!

the resolution seems really good, this unit had much high IR resolution than others, some were 90x90 IR which seems low. it worked quickly with the software, no issues getting it to work.this is not compatible with cases of any type, the unit is designed to fit flush to the bottom of your device. I bought a usb-c extender that is about 3/8" long which allows me to use this with a case.I've only played around with it so far and I think the colors are relative to surrounding temp and I'd like them to be absolute so when I look at a 30C source, its the same color even if the surrounding is 0C or 50C. I'm have to play with that.I have not used it with a pc yet but I plan on it, I didn't even realize it was PC compatible when I bought it. nice bouns

I purchased this to replace a similar smartphone camera that I had purchased from FLIR years ago. The other device was a constant headache, and the majority of the issues seemed to be related to the internal rechargeable battery that was very flaky and finally failed (not replaceable!). For obvious reasons, I am thrilled that the Foxwell doesn't have a battery, and it is able to fully function using the power it is drawing from the USB-C port real-time.PERFORMANCE: I use the thermal cameras for non-professional tasks such is detecting thermal leaks, moisture issues, troubleshooting electronics and other mechanical devices. In addition, when there is a nice temperature gradient with the outside, it can be used to image the layout and placement of framing inside exterior walls. I have found that the thermal camera has excellent abilities identifying very small thermal variations, the refresh rate is very good, and overall the resolution is excellent for camera in this price range.Other observations: The build of the camera is more compact than I was expecting with a metal exterior. It comes with an excellent carrying case. The Foxwell app is fairly good, with lots of functional options to support taking measurementsOverall I believe that the camera performs at a minimum to all its stated spec's (unlike some knock off products on Amazon), and the build quality would imply that I should get many years of use out of it.

I work as a boiler and compressor operator and IR imaging equipment are indispensable tools for the job! Such as detecting hot spots on our industrial boilers or detecting refrigerant leaks from 20 feet away. Though we use much more expensive gear at my places of work, this camera stands to be just as good, if not better, than some of them. Better yet, it operates with your phone, so you can easily take and save pictures/videos directly, as well as having a touch face interface. The only thing I am truly worried about it is that it does sit pretty loose in my phone's USB port. I do plan on getting a cheap tablet for this and only this.As far as battery life goes, I haven't noticed much extra drainage at all with this. I suppose if I were to sit it in front of a suspected area on one of the compressors to watch and record rises in temperatures on the bearings, I can see how this would drain a battery. Normally, in my occupation, you would just scan and inspect, which is never more than 30 minutes. I also compare the data I get from this with our $1000 cameras and the temperature readings are practically the same. Some key features I would love to see added to this would be selecting an area on the screen for the app to monitor and create a trend. Something I always would have liked to see included in our thermal gear, as data collecting and setting up on a graph manually can be time consuming.Anyways, I love that I have my own personal thermal camera now because I have always wanted one for home too. I use it for finding house drafts, my boilers (yes, I have two at home ironically), radiator heating, computers, consoles, and my older appliances.Thank you for reading my review! 🙏

This FOXWELL RT100 thermal camera is quite impressive with its performance and design. With its 256x192 IR resolution, it provides clear and detailed thermal imaging that’s perfect for various takes related to heat reading. The app is intuitive, with a range of settings that allow me to fine-tune readings. I can easily select specific areas on the screen to get accurate temperature measurements in either Celsius or Fahrenheit, which adds great flexibility. Its compact size and lightweight makes it easy to carry around, a convenience for quick inspections anywhere. It’s been especially handy for checking potential heat leaks around my doors during the winter, and it also serves well for spotting electrical or HVAC issues. The camera works great with Android and PC devices, allowing me to transfer and view thermal images quickly. Through the app, I can take both video and photos, and save/share it for further reference. It can be a handy tool for home inspection. The only drawback I’ve found is the lack of support for Apple devices, which would’ve been useful.

This is a USB thermal camera. You have to install Foxwell’s app to use the camera, but it installed fine and recognized the camera instantly on my Pixel 8. The app obviously requires permissions for the camera and microphone because it records thermal videos but also wants notification permissions. It doesn’t require storage or photo/video permissions. There are not much instructions with the camera nor in the app, but it’s not too difficult to figure out.I own other thermal cameras and the image quality is comparable to more expensive ones. There are lots of options to change the colours, temperature ranges, etc. and even use it as a temperature monitor with logging. See my photos where I aim it at an exterior door and you can see where I need to improve my weatherstripping since you can see where the cold is entering. In addition to showing the temperature of the spot in the middle of the screen, it shows the temps and locations of the hottest and coldest spots. To get readings on a specific part of the screen, you can draw a rectangle, line or individual spots. See one of my photos where I drew a rectangle to get the readings within that rectangle. The only place where it lacks slightly is where it tries to overlay a “normal” image over the thermal one. It’s called “fusion mode”, and it uses your phone’s camera in addition to the thermal camera. However, since those two cameras are far away from each other, the angles will look different so it’s not possible to superimpose the two images together. Instead, the normal image is put in the upper left corner of the thermal image (see my photo). This is not as satisfactory as more expensive cameras that have their own normal imaging sensor close to the thermal sensor and can truly overlay the images. The photos and videos can only be viewed from within the app, but you can “share” them to Google Photos so that they will be included with your normal photos and then viewable in your phone’s gallery app.
