On field shoots this hood is a blessing. It provides enouch light across the lens surface without allowing for flare or flash from the sun.

Makes the camera a little more professional looking and helps keep fingers and sun off the lens. One star off because the threads on the lens hood are very short -- it only twists on about 1 turn and stops. I suspect a serious bang, and the threads would strip out.

It looks good and price friendly. It also protects the lens filter and saves time to use a lens caps on the filter.

Excellent lens hood. I purchased one of the tapered hoods and found that it was pretty shallow. Not nearly as deep as the lens hood that came with the XF 35mm 1.4R lens. So, I thought I would take a chance on this hood as it appeared to be about twice as deep as the tapered version. Pretty close to the depth of the stock lens. So, no problems with vignette.I love the lens and the rectangular lens hood is sexy looking. But, installing and removing the lens cap was awkward and required fiddling coming off and going back on. My concern with the stock hood was the lens cap would fall down onto the front element and I felt that there was a high risk of scratching the lens or damaging the coatings. This is the more expensive 35mm and I love the images it produces. The lens cap removal and installation is still a bit fiddly, but it is way better than the stock hood. Honestly, I feel this hood is just as sexy looking as the stock hood. Since it has a wider opening at the front, the lens cap is less likely to damage the front element. This cap is metal as is the stock hood. It feels sturdy and durable. Considering prices on factory hoods like this, I could replace all of my lens hoods (and probably all of yours to boot) for less than the cost of a hood with the Fuji or Leica brand etched on the bell. The ordering experience was positive. The hood was as the seller represented it. It arrived on time in sturdy Amazon shipping materials and was undamaged. It appears to be a well made hood that is likely to serve well for many years - or until I lose it - LOL! And the price at under $10.00 makes it an absolute steal.

Absolutely love this hood! This hood screws to the filter thread on your lens, I like it on my Samsung 35mm but also fits very well to my Zeiss 55mm. These are made in metal, I've read some complain about the quality of the finish but mine looks spot on. This also have a thread in the hood it's self but I haven't measured this up yet.

It feels premium and is made out of metal. It looks like it could bend very very easily though. I'd give it 4.5 stars if that was possible.

Bought this for my Fuji system. Lightweight but strong, decent value.

fits great on the Samsung/Rokinon AF 35mm F2.8, just keep in mind the very small lens cap that came with the lens (which fits on the plastic lens hood will NOT fit, so you'll have to get a 49mm lens cap)

The lens hood is finished much nicer than the product photos have led me to believe. I didn't expect much, especially for the price, but was pleasantly surprised. It's definitely made of aluminum and finished in a smooth satin black anodize. The machining is very clean with no marks or blemishes anywhere. Unlike the product photos, the lens hood thankfully doesn't say "For Leica" anywhere and instead only has a small silver marking of "52mm" which appears to be laser etched into the anodize coating. I used a black permanent marker to black out this marking, but given that it's still etched it's visible through the ink from the right angle.I have the hood fitted permanently to my Fujifilm XF 35mm f/1.4 R lens and it allows me to use a 49mm pinch lens cap while the hood is still attached. For those who have either the Fuji XF 35mm f/1.4 or the Fuji XF 18mm f/2.0, you'll know how great of an upgrade this is from the terrible square rubber lens cap and hood combination that comes with the lens. While the shade it provides is likely less than the stock hood, the added protection from bumps and fingerprints is what I was looking for specifically and this lens hood does just that. Unfortunately, your original 52mm lens cap won't fit on the hood. But that's OK because I found a generic brand 49mm lens cap here on Amazon for about $5.I like especially that the vents are very large and that there are a total of 6 vents with small spokes, rather than some of the other brands that have only 3 vents with rather large spokes. This gives the hood a very unique looks and works well on cameras with more classic styling like the Fuji X-Series.I'm personally not much of a filter user but do take note that the hood does not have any additional threading to accept filters.

The is a good, well-crafted product, yet you need to carefully check your camera specs first before getting this one. It's designed to fit older Leica, Contax, Zeiss, Voigtlander, Leitz/Minolta and many other lenses that use a 40.5mm threaded filter size, but if you have a contemporary digital camera with a zoom lens, you will encounter vignetting at the wide angle settings. Check the images that I've posted here.Bought this lens hood for use with the new , which features a 7.1x optical zoom. Its 28mm to 200mm zoom range (on a 35mm film standard) made me wonder if it would cut off the corners at the widest settings... and it does. For the price, it was a good experiment, and considering that the new proprietary for the P7700 costs quite a bit more, I cannot fault the manufacturer of this hood as I did this partially out of curiosity. My experiment, and it will be a keeper for use with medium to telephoto (50mm to 200mm) shots. When it's used from about 45mm on to 200mm with a filter on the lens, this is an excellent product. The filter threads are smooth, and it has a black semi-matte exterior finish that goes well with almost any camera today. The interior of this lens shade has a true matte finish to cut down on reflections that can show up in your images, and it's a nice touch. It has a nice retro look that is reminiscent of 35mm film cameras from years ago. This is a good product, nicely crafted and machined, and one that can be recommended to anyone wanting a lens shade that performs well, as long as you plan on using it at medium to telephoto setting. It just isn't designed for wide angle use, so you'll have to look elsewhere for that.10/17/2012
