Followed the procedures to maximize battery life after install (drain and charge process). Didn't matter though because in less than 6 months the battery now discharges from full to dead in between 2-3 hrs. (2hrs watching a movie, 3 hrs intermittent use). Once it hits 10% it drains to 0 in about 7mins even if not in use and all background apps are closed. Really kind of disappointing considering the original lasted nearly 4 yrs and the hassle to open the iPad and perform the replacement. Fit and connections were fine just no quality in the battery itself.Update- Contacted seller regarding their stated 12-month warranty and they provided very little in communication simply stating "I'm sorry, we can't return it". Just beware if you have any problem after the Amazon return window you are out of luck with this seller and there is NO warranty beyond that.Lastly the battery has now stopped charging at all, so it is completely dead after 6 months and no remedy except buying a different battery from a different seller.

Bought this for my grandson’s iPad that stopped holding a charge. Repair store wanted $160 to swap out. I am extremely mechanically inclined, but was still apprehensive taking on this repair, but for a cost of $20 all-in, I was extremely motivated, and figured if I mess up, I would only be out $20, and could try the pro route later. The included tool kit was very helpful to get things done. There were NO instructions, so I watched a few youtube videos for guidance. Most of the tools are plastic so they don’t damage anything. The little screwdrivers were very cheap quality, but worked well for this. They were not magnetic, so be careful when removing the teenie tiny screws inside. You will need a heat gun (or a specialized heating pad specifically made for this task). The half moon shaped tool with the handle works best to pry the glass from the backing, and then use the guitar picks as cribbing “stabilizers” to keep it from resealing. After about 40 minutes (plus about 5 additional, searching for a dropped mini-screw) had the whole thing back together and up and running again. The most important takeaways, is TAKE YOUR TIME removing the glass. Do NOT force it. Keep adding heat until it comes apart easily, and careful with those tiny screws. They were about the size of a salt grain. The glue on the new battery holds well, so make sure it is where it needs to be before removing the plastic.I give this kit a 5 star for it’s cost, and the included kit. So far, it is holding decent charge, and it has been about 2 months of heavy use. Would definitely do again when our next tablet fails.

The battery works OK so far. I just installed it an hour ago.The instructions are ridiculous, containing all kinds of unnecessary steps. The toughest part is removing the glass front which required much more heat than the instructions state, even with a 1200W heat gun took a few minutes. Rather nerve racking minutes, but nothing burnt up because I kept moving the gun. YouTube shows people changing the battery in about 10 minutes. That's only because they've already loosened up the glass. Look closely at these videos. It's a mystery to me why the electronics get gutted form the metal shell in the instructions. If you heat up the metal shell, with all the electronics, it's easy to spudger loose the battery's adhesive and lift out the battery. This is most often shown in YouTube videos and makes the most sense. I'm not sure why there's no mention of removing the battery adhesive left behind on the metal case half. It takes up some precious space. I removed the adhesive with solvent prior to installing the battery. In retrospect the job was much easier than the 61 steps contained in the instructions. And that's 61 steps just to remove the battery. You'll still need to put it back together. It must be a conspiracy to send business Apple's way. lol

The first battery that I received powered on the iPad, but it wouldn't charge. I sent an email to the address on the sticker, but that email address doesn't work, so I eventually sent a message through Amazon. They were quick to respond and offer suggestions to make sure it wasn't something stupid like the charger/cable not working. After that they shipped me not one, but two batteries to resolve the issue. The first one in the new shipment that I tried worked well and was able to charge. I was curious why the first one I received didn't work, so I did some investigation (I'm an electrical engineer). The battery cells were fine and the protection circuit looks like it is designed well. The issue was that one of the components on the protection circuit was crooked and not soldered on correctly. That's a sign of poor quality control that the battery made it to the consumer, but it's what I would expect when buying a product like this.
