Love these. Took a while to install but really adds the storage space

Easy to install. Just took awhile to install - mainly finding and measuring between studs. Don’t put too close to the wall. It makes it difficult to screw in the hanging brackets if you don’t leave at least 3” from the wall. I left 2” and it was doable but difficult.

This is a great option to use the ceiling are to save space in your garage. I bought one of these to install above my garage door and it's been great to have that additional storage space. The install is a little difficult because you are mounting the brackets to the ceiling and have to ensure they are lined up well enough that they will align with the mounting holes on the base of the rack. It's not terribly difficult, more annoying. Mounting it a corner also make some of the bolt tightening less than ideal.

I'm used to putting things together but this took me way longer than I thought it would take to install. In part because my ceiling is 10 ft high and my garage was crowded so it took a while to move the ladder around and get into safe positions to install the ceiling brackets. Even so expect this to take a few hours even with a clear garage unless you're super fast at putting things together. That being said the build quality is very good and the instructions are clear and all the parts fit together. So the product itself is definitely five stars but installing it is a pain in the butt and you definitely want to have a second person help you lift the final 4 ft by 8 ft grid into place.

Number of installers: 1 (did this by myself)Tools used: Ladder, cordless drill, 13mm socket wrench, (provided) allen wrench, tape measure, pencil, stud finder.Time to install: it took me about 5 to 6 hours, but I was not in a hurry and had to correct a few things...explanation belowThe packaging of the product was well done and all parts boxed separately. The instructions are well written and offer pictures/diagrams to help with understanding the installation/planning.There were two things that I did not quite think through in terms of planning "where" to install the overhead storage:1. overhead rafter locations2. ceiling lights (fluorescent) or other installations that may get in the way (garage door track, etc).Once I found the proper location, the installation was rather smooth. You'll be working over your head to secure the ceiling brackets - I found that to be the most challenging part. You must know where the studs are and ensure that you're properly setting the lag screws. With the ceiling brackets in place, the rest was not too bad and flowed well with the instructions. They engineered the vertical drops to assist with setting the suspended metal base (they have a lip to catch the edge of the base)...that made it easy to set in place. I had two vertical brackets that were not lined up true and I struggled to get the sheet metal screws in. But then it dawned on me that once the verticals are a true 90 degree, the screws go in w/out issue. So, if it seems like its a struggle to get the screws started, check the vertical alignment.I like this product. Its very sturdy once installed and provided me the extra "off floor" storage that I wanted.I recommend this product and am confident that you'll be as impressed as I am.

Firstly, this was one of the most intuitive assemblies I have seen. You dont even really need the instructions. The only challenge here is finding the studs and planning placement of the brackets. I had a few obstacles to work around like my garage support bracket. Plus I have joist running one way for part of it and the other way for the other part if it. It helps to get in the attic to see what you have to work with.As far as quality, I am an engineer and really appreciate the straight forward design and the heavy duty hardware. The cages could be a little better supported though. One more bar or two would help or thicker metal for the cage itself. I had to be a little strategic not to put all of the weight in the middle (like stacks of paint cans). This is much less of a problem when you have larger heavy items as the load is evenly distributed. Now it may have been fine but I didnt feel comfortable with the bit of sagging. Another benefit is these shelves butt up to each other nicely and you can even bolt them together for more stability and to make it a more seamless shelf. I have 3 across 2 walls and it looks like one massive wraparound shelf. I didnt have the problem some people had where it sagged in the middle. I am guessing that was an install problem. There is a support for the middle on both sides with 4 bolts and there are 4 more bolts tying the two pieces together underneath. My guess is someone forgot to put the bolts in the bottom. Another nifty thing I liked was all the nuts and lag bolts were the same size socket that was really convenient. I had a drill with the allan bit and a battery powered socket wrench and that was all I needed. As far as stability, it's pretty solid. If you hit all the studs I cant imagine this thing going anywhere. Yes it moves a little if you dont have it against any walls so I guess for that application thicker drop brackets would be nice. For me, it is against a wall on all sides so not an issue. If I wanted I could bolt them to the wall as well but I feel pretty good about it as is.Also this seller is very responsive. I ordered the dual set and only one showed up. I contacted the seller and they responded in just a few days on a weekend to provide me the other tracking number!Good service and good product. I would buy again for sure.
