  • This FireWire to USB cable is designed specifically to connect 6-pin 1394 FireWire 400 devices to a USB computer, allowing you to view camera images or videos on the computer screen (only for viewing, not for transferring to the computer). The length of the cable is six feet.
  • The FireWire 6-pin to USB 2.0 male adapter cable can be used for digital cameras, printers, scanners, and other devices with IEEE 1394 6-pin connectors

I recently purchased this FireWire to USB adapter in hopes of breathing new life into my vintage CD-ROM enclosure. The enclosure only has FireWire ports, which aren't compatible with any of my current computers. I thought this adapter would be the perfect solution, but I was disappointed.Despite the product's claims, it simply doesn't work as advertised. I tested it with multiple computers - both laptops and desktops - and the result was consistently the same: none of them could detect or read CDs inserted into the enclosure when connected via this adapter. It's frustrating because the product seemed like a clever workaround for outdated technology. However, it appears that the fundamental differences between FireWire and USB protocols are too significant to be bridged by a simple cable adapter. If you're in a similar situation with old FireWire equipment, I'd advise looking into other solutions, such as PCIe FireWire cards for desktops or biting the bullet and purchasing an updated enclosure. This adapter, unfortunately, is not the easy fix it promises to be.

I needed an adapter for my printer so I got this cord. It is very well made and I have not had any issues with it. The cord is plently long enough and it does exactly as it says it will.
