Got this cable to connect a Sony digital camcorder to an old computer to download digital videos from DV tapes. The computer did not recognize the Sony camcorder when first connected. Thought it was problem with driver or old software. Then I accidentally wiggled the cable and a connection was made, proving there was no problem with software. But the connection was intermittent. Any little movement will disrupt the connection.Bought another cable from a different seller. The new one worked perfectly.This cable seemed to be well made, but the 4 pin connector was defective. It was returned.

I thought it was my firewire card, but this cable was terrible and just did not work. Ended up using a cable the card came with that worked,

The cable seems quite sturdy and worked perfectly for connecting and uploading old DV video from camera to desktop!
