This was easy to install although requires a 120v outlet or a usb port near your fireplace controls. I had mine ripped apart as a rebuild so it wasn’t difficult to add in back. I installed a backup override switch for the gas valve in case the relay ever fails. It works great with Alexa and mine is programmed to energize by saying c’mon baby, light my fire

I’ve had this product for over 2 years and it works great with our Alexa. Fairly easy to install, but I just switched internet routers and needed to reconnect the product. They were very helpful in pointing me in the right direction, and I had no issues once I realized my error.

Works very well, easy set up on phone and Alexa, no ugly wall switch next to fireplace

I followed the step-by-step instructions. I was able to pair the device to my network and my phone. It worked really well as expected for about five minutes. After that, it completely stopped working and wouldn't even come on at all to attempt pairing or connection any longer. The eWelink app would also not link with my Alexa app to allow for voice and home automation. The parts are not well made, the instructions are cumbersome, the app leaves a ton to be desired, and I have no confidence that it would have worked for very long anyway. I am returning for a refund.

My wife has been wanting an Alexa voice control ability for the gas fireplace ever since I started putting smart switches in the house. I'm happy to say that this product has made her happy. The voice control allows her to turn the fireplace on or off while sitting on the sofa watching the TV instead of having to get up and walk across the room to reach the wall switch. The installation is not straightforward. There are no instructions in the package. Instead, you are directed to a web site to watch a YouTube video on how to connect the device to your WiFi network and how to wire it to your fireplace. You must also download the eWeLink phone app and give them your email address to create an account to use the switch.Watching the video is essential and provides the necessary information you need to configure the device. However, despite following the instructions to the letter, the device did not easily connect to the network. I tried three times without success. The app suggested using "compatibility mode," where the device broadcasts its own WiFi network to connect your phone to, but when I tried that the device wanted a password and there was no mention of a password on the website or with the device. I was pretty frustrated at that point, but on a fourth attempt, somehow the app did connect to the device, and I was able to get it registered and connected to Alexa.Installation to the fireplace was easier. The kit includes a 2 to 1 spade connector that allows you to keep your existing switch wiring and add the smart switch to your millivolt gas controller. With this configuration, either switch can turn the fireplace on, but both must be off to turn the fireplace off. I recommend keeping the existing switch off most of the time and just using the voice commands with the smart switch.Physically, the device is a small circuit board with several LED's, momentary contact switches, and connections for two wires with spade connectors. The PCB is housed in a box that looks like it was made with a 3-D printer. The cover to the box is very loose fitting and I had to tape it on to keep it from falling off. The device is powered by an included USB C power supply that needs to be plugged into an electrical outlet. My fireplace had a single switched outlet that powered the fireplace fan and I converted that to an always on outlet (by removing the wall switch and hard wiring the receptacle to line voltage). I used a cord splitter with the always-on outlet to give me an additional receptacle to control the fireplace fan with a separately purchased smart switch. After installing all those devices, cords, adapters, and smart devices the underside of the fireplace looks a bit like a rat's nest, but everything worked, and I am very satisfied with the device. The device works as promised and is exactly what I wanted. However, the documentation could be better. Specifically, the "compatibility mode" is not documented and the password to the device Wi-Fi should have been supplied.Update 4/4/2023: The device continues to work flawlessly more than a year after installation. It has never lost connection to the Wi-Fi network even after the occasional power outage.
