To buy the dominoes this way provides the user a range of lengths and costs about half of what they do precut from the factory. This also factors in the energy cost to slice them to length and sand the edges. However, even if you gang them up and cut six to eight at a time, it still takes a good chunk of time.

I love festool, they make great products, but why does it have to be so expensive?

way to go! We use our upcut saw and cut a pile in seconds, put them in a tumbler and ease all the edges and bingo!

But I recommend easing the leading edges of the tenons to facilitate entry into the mortices. I do this at my edge sander and it's very quick once you get the hang of it.

Starting out with the Festool Domino, I knew I had to go with the "made-for" tenon. I was frustrated with the $65 price tag for some sticks of wood. What made it a little better was realizing that 750 mm is actually about 30" so you get a fairly substantial quantity that can be cut to length. Comes in a nice box as well. So it is still very expensive for some sticks of wood but should last a while. Guess if you can afford the Festool Domino, you can afford $65 worth of sticks. In any event, I'm telling myself that I'm saving more than the combined cost with the time I save and the quality of the results!
