I use them to add small highlights to watercolors and they work nicely for that.

Faber Castell pastel pencils are fine pencils made out of "Chalk" pastels. You should know this before buying the product as chalk pastel never blends with oil pastel. So if you're going to use them in an oil painting or something, forget about it. The quality is decent. They're not 100% soft and fluid. Some of them are harder than the others. the color pallette could be more practical. I give this product a solid 7 out of 10.

These pastel pencils are bright colors and are not messy. Very good quality German made.

Vivid colors, sharpenable, archival, open stock or in sets. Use for sharp detail yet very blendable. Also erasable to a great extent, when used on most papers. Can be used over watercolor.

What can you say about Faber Castell that has'nt already been said?? There's a reason why this company has been in the art supply business for so many decades..They make top quality products that are worth every penny. Personally, Id rather go without colored pencils whether they are pastels, watercolor, etc & save until I can buy Faber Castell's because Im certain of the product Im getting & what its capable of. This is my first time purchasing & using pastels. Ive only been coloring as an adult for a couple years, but felt it was time to try using pastels for backgrounds. I have to say, I wish I considered doing it sooner. These go on very smooth & Im learning different techniques to combine colors &/or get lighter or darker shades from one color itself. I would DEFINITELY recommend this set to start out with. Ive priced Faber Castell products at Michaels & Joann Fabrics & could'nt believe how expensive they were selling for!! Ive compared some sets that are actually double the price they are here on Amazon. Great price, great product...what are you still reading this for?!😀Go click a set into your cart while they are still in stock at this price!!AND NO, I was not compensated or received these for free for my input. Just a satisfied customer that knows what its like starting out & having to choose coloring supplies from so many different companies with varying different price ranges. It quickly can become overwhelming on what to get & from where. Ive based all my purchases from Amazon on reviews & have'nt had any regrets yet.
