I'm about as tech-savvy as my grandmother when it comes to transferring files and whatnot. I was running into a storage issue on my phone, so when I saw this recommended for me, I jumped on it, having absolutely no idea what it was exactly. It said something about phone storage, I needed phone storage... sold. Once I received it, I realized I had no clue what I bought. HOWEVER, I did some digging and figured out that this is an enclosure for an SSD card. Guess what I didn't have? an SSD card. SOOOO... a bit more online shopping is needed on my part. But, it looks as though this will do everything I need and then some. Probably a bit overkill for me, but hey- it's getting me to research and learn new things I would have never looked into otherwise. It's a super sturdy metal case, with a lid that opens without any tools needed. So far, the lid has held solid in place without budging until I need to get it open. It does take a bit of muscle to pop it open, but I look at that as a good thing- you're not going to have it accidentally open while using or transporting and mess up any cards inside. I imagine it will work about as well as the card you purchase as this is just an enclosure, I'll update more once I purchase one. The magnet is strong and holds the enclosure in place easily. This isn't anything you're going to have to worry about being gentle with- this thing can probably be ran over by a car without any damage to it (didn't try it, though). I'll update once I purchase an SSD card if my opinion changes, but I don't expect it will.

I really like this portable M.2 adapter for use with my PC business. I’m a computer and network repair technician and this tool has become invaluable in my daily work. I’m using it with a 1TB 2230 M.2 NVMe SSD and it performs extremely well. It’s perfect for on the go tasks. I use it with my clients’ PCs, my own systems, and other devices. It’s compact, easy to carry, and the design keeps the SSD cool thanks to the included thermal pad, while also holding it securely in place.I have the drive set up with three partitions. One is BitLocker encrypted and formatted as NTFS, one is general storage formatted in exFAT (which even works perfectly on my phone), and the third is a bootable rescue disk. All three partitions work flawlessly with this adapter across different devices.Transfer speeds are excellent when using a USB Type C port and it stays cool even during extended use. One small note. Putting the cover on can be a little tricky at first, but once it’s on, it holds securely and fits perfectly. This is a solid, reliable tool that I highly recommend to anyone who needs a versatile portable M.2 NVMe SSD solution for business or personal use.

Need some fast portable storage?Got USB-C connectivity?Have a spare 2230 NVME drive lying around? Then this is a perfect solution for you! This little box is both small, but sturdy and well built while also acting as a fantastic NVME SSD cooler since it is an all metal enclosure. Using the small 2230 sized NVME drives, you can get up to 2TB (Currently as of 2025) storage that will rip as fast as the drive and USB 3.1 speeds (10Gbit) can move.In my testing, sequentially writing to a Micron 2450 256GB Drive, I was able to hold a constant 300MB/s write and 440MB/s read speeds in Windows 11. The performance is more or less limited by OS/USB/Drive/Format/ETC so your mileage may vary, but performance is more than enough for normal data transfer jobs, and especially good enough for mobile data transfer from a new iPhone with USB-C or Android devices. Is it the fastest external housing I have used, no, but it is good enough for the price point and I want it to work reliably which this little thing seems to do very well. Also the shape of this enclosure is specifically designed to be compatible with the MagSafe backings of phones which holds really well and is why this is shaped like it is since a normal NVME enclosure would be more narrow and long which would be very awkward to use on a mobile device.Overall I do recommend this little box if you want a smaller portable device that also has the added benefit of being magnetic to iPhone/MagSafe cases.

Case closure has 4 ball-bearing snap closure points instead of just 2 as photos might suggest. This ensures a tight lid keeping the SSD inside safe. The downside is it's larger than any other 2230 M.2 enclosure I have, but aside from acting as a heat sink, I'm not sure why it needs to be this size.On a plus side, you have two small compartments on either side of the SSD for very small objects if you desire - as long as they can tolerate heat, of course! In all seriousness though, it IS a nice case with a flat USB C cable and has a stronger "MagSafe" magnet than those other cases to grip onto your MagSafe phone case/iPhone. Performance is as you'd expect (testing with Thunderbolt 3 MacBook Pro 2019) with a 1TB Corsair 2230 M.2 SSD.Is the larger size a deal breaker? Surprisingly NO. Despite the slightly larger size it still fits my Samsung S25 Ultra's MagSafe case well, albeit on a very slight angle to sit flat and strong. Even if I place it with edges aligned with the phone it barely sits on the lip below one lens and STILL has a stronger magnetic grip than two other enclosures (the third not having MagSafe at all). The extra aluminum should help provide better heat sink performance too, though the thermal tape is a bit thin and could be better.Room for improvement, but pretty great as it sits.
