I've tried a few of the cheaper drive enclosures, worked fine on a PC but wouldn't work with my PS4 unless it was one that had a wall adapter for power. This one worked on the PlayStation first time no issues or errors or troubleshooting, using just the USB cable! It simply worked as advertised. Very happy with the quality cable it comes with and the on/off switch is nice. Seems durable enough and overall well made. Fantastic value!I happen to have two 1tb 2.5" SSD laying around and it seemed like such a waste to not use them. The PlayStation can only use one external drive at a time, so the on/off switch comes in handy when selecting which external to use. Small convenience but I appreciate it!

Simple, tool free enclosure to repurpose old hard drives, clone or backup your computer, or use for additional storage. Powered by USB connection so no need for electrical outlet. Two nice features are the blue light for power/activity and the on/off switch. It’s PERFECT!

I am using a 120GB SSD in this as an external drive. The enclosure works really well, feels solid, was easy to assemble. The transfer speed is fast when plugged into a usb 3 port. It will still work on a usb 2 port but at 1/10 of the speed compared to usb 3. The supplied usb 3 cable is sufficiently long.

Very nice enclosure. Good value as it was discounted. Heavy duty cable ( largest guage I have ever used) for USB connection. Connectors remain plugged in do not fall out or wiggle loose. The unit turns on with the toggle switch and the drive is recognized instantly. I plugged the drive into the original laptop where the backup came from and removed Bitlocker. So easy, the functions requested removed Bitlocker from the internal drive of laptop and the drive that I had mounted in the new Sabrent enclosure. The photos highlight the use of a screwdriver. I had to remove the connection head as my Crucial would not slide in with the connection head installed in the drive enclosure. Possibly it is that drive that is a different size. Does not matter still gave the unit a 5 star rating. Most folks that tinker around with computers should have a small screwdriver available. In the end the drive works perfect and the enclosure protects my portable drive. I am very pleased.

I love this enclosure because I can use it for different drives or leave one drive installed in it and use it for as long as I want as an external drive. The only downside I've seen is that when you try to remove the drive from the enclosure, you have to tilt the HD a bit because you cannot take it out stright, so be careful. Other than that I'm very happy with the enclosure.I recommend this enclosure!

I received it today and it is well boxed and has some instructions even though most people probably don't need them. Never hurts. The cord is actually a decent length. Instead of being 4 inches long I think it's more like 10. I could be off about that all I know is the last one I had (different company and not USB 3.0 but cheap and I needed it quick) had a really short cord and the case basically dangled from the side of my laptop when it was plugged in to the side while I had my laptop on a cooling stand on my lap. It goes together really well and even has black square simple foam insert that helps keep everything snug. Not fancy but I would put it near the end of the drive instead of the center so that you can close it. It has an on and off switch that I could imagine would come in handy in some situations that you didn't want to unplug it but you also didn't want it being accessed. Obviously I noticed right away that it was fast. Since I was used to using USB 2.0 and a case designed for non SSD drives even though they fit and that it did the job? The old one did it very slowly. The difference was obvious and I'm sure that's true of all cases that are 3.0 working off of an SSD. Simple review? I'm very happy with the purchase. It works great and it's not a piece of junk. Which is all we can ask for sometimes when we order online. (That and we get all the parts.) I don't see why spending any more money on a different case with with make your life any easier other than the satisfaction of not having to worry about having money and what to do with it. Because this works perfectly fine and is a solid design and well packaged product. I say well packaged cuz that ensures that you get all the damn parts including the cable and stuff! Hah! It actually comes boxed like it was meant to be sold in a store and completely taped shut and closed etc

This was exactly what I was looking for. Easy access to swap a drive if I need to and best part of all IT HAS A POWER SWITCH ON IT! Now for those of you that wonder why I say that. First of all I work on computers and I also edit audio and video files for various companies for commercials, demos, theatrical events and that's my side business and hobby. So I move around a lot of large raw and wav and assorted video files and backup applications and then there's Windows 10. If you live and breath in windoze land and by their rules like an ostrich with your head in the sand or a sheep then you may as well stop reading this and move on. But if you run multiple operating systems like I do then golden rule #1. Windows watches and monitors EVERYTHING you do constantly. All my documents pictures and private things are kept on external drives specifically for this reason and also because I want to be able to use them in various flavors of linux or on mac as well. so ALL of it stays on externals nicely out of windows prying eyes. I can plug this drive the way I have it set up into any pc, and use the on and off switch when I want something from it. This completely stops all this "you need to scan and fix this drive before you can use it" crap. Now anyone that uses other operating systems knows no matter what you do, even if you use the little eject usb options in windows, if you run the drive on a different operating system first time you use it on windows again its going to do this and also it may ask you or tell you to reformat the drive. There is nothing wrong with anything except its just windows getting prissy cause you used another operating system besides theirs. this is the only reason this happens. I say prissy cause amazon wont let me say B----y in a review but this is the bare facts. Windows thinks its the only thing in the world worth using and they want you to think that too. Anyway I dropped a Crucial BX500 1tb sold state drive in this and its perfect, and does everything I want it to and I'm getting great read and write speeds and a lot faster than any of the seagate or WD external drives and it does exactly what I want. The only thing that would make it any better was if it was externally powered so windows couldn't put it to sleep. If you use external drives and are tired of drives sleeping and windows constantly nagging you about what you do with it then try doing it thsi way. Its faster, its solid state so you don't have to worry about shock speeds or heat and its fast. Extremely fast depending on the drive you choose to put in it and best of all its actually lower in priceand you get better performance than the other "ready-to-go" off the shelf pre made externals. Read a little, learn a little and try it yourself and save yourself some money time and frustration. and dont let the odd usb cable fool you, they are easy to find and the connector is a lot less trouble free than a mini usb or type c and the best part of it, you can use this setup with a common cable they way I have it set up with any android or apple phone that allows external storage so its versatile as well. Just buy it. You wont regret it. I have mine setup with 2 partitions. one set up as storage and I have a 40gb partition with Linux Mint 64 bootable on it all set up as a service toolbox for other PC's as well and it just flies in anything I attach it to. A lot faster than a flash drive and 900gb of space to do or save anything else you want. You cant make a seagate or WD prefab external do that like this and have it run this well. There's absolutely no cons here, just possibly the perfect external drive case.
