  • INSTALL WITH STANDARD TOOLS – 12L14 Carbon steel threaded inserts. Install with standard tools. No special drills, taps, or special installation tools are needed.
  • QUICKLY REPAIR DAMAGED THREADS – Quickly repair damaged threads or reinforce tapped holes in soft metals with these steel thread inserts.
  • FOR USE WITH APPLICATIONS – The threaded inserts are designed for use with soft metals: aluminum, cast iron, magnesium, etc.
  • STRONG THREADS MADE EASY – Simply drill the hole with a standard drill. Tap the hole with a standard tap. Turn in the insert with a screwdriver, bolt/jam nut, or an E-Z LOK drive tool.

E-Z LOK threaded inserts for metal provide an easy to use solution for repairing or reinforcing threaded holes in metal. Ideal for use in metals like aluminum and cast iron, E-Z LOK threaded inserts are screw machined out of solid steel for greater strength and superior pull out resistance. Standard external threads permit the use of standard drills and taps for installation. Once the hole is prepared, E-Z LOKs are threaded into the hole like an ordinary fastener using a screwdriver, bolt and jam nut, or optional E-Z LOK drive tool. E-Z LOKs are self locking and will not back out or vibrate loose. A preapplied adhesive activates upon installation and bonds to virtually all metals. Fastener-ready in minutes, the adhesive seals against liquids and gases to pressures of 6,000 psi. when fully cured (72 hours).

Update:Unless you have the drill and tap size I wouldn’t bother buying these. The OD measurement is 35/64, larger than the 31/64 drill and tap as written on the bag. I measured all of them and I think these are mislabeled. The only thing that seems correct is the ID of 3/8 and the height. I drilled a 31/64 hold and no way will this insert fit.*********I bought these because of the 3/8 size and the “look” they had that seemed to be more durable than most inserts. And drum roll…..they were advertised as made in USA.I needed 8, pack comes with 10. Good thing since the test piece chipped. I used the same method of inserting into the wood as I usually do, which is using a 3/8 bolt with a nut and slowly turning until inserted. The problem I encountered was trying to remove it. Clearly using a bolt and nut to reverse is not going to work. In the past with this type of insert that has two parallel ridges I use a screw driver to remove it. The screw driver sits between the ridges and it generally twists back out with no damage to insert or wood. This time though, the insert chipped on the top piece of the ridge using the screw driver. Material? I eventually got the insert removed by continuing to twist it into the wood that split the wood in half. Not ideal but it worked.I will keep these and try to work with them but I’m also finding the tap-drill size they have on the bag is incorrect, at least when I went through my testing to find a size hole to drill. The bag had 31/64 as a tap-drill and tap of 9/16-12.In my testing I drilled 2 holes, used a 1/2 drill bit and 1/2 forstner (cleaner hole). Both gave me a hole just large enough to twist the insert into but not without applying some extra force. A 5/8 drill opening is far to large and the 31/64 drill opening is far too small when I used that size drill bit.My calipers show 35/64 for the OD of the insert, ID 39/128, height 33/64.
