The Exo Terra Rock Terrarium Background is an easy-to-cut background that has an incredible natural look. It creates a multi-dimensional habitat that is ideal for climbing reptiles or it can be simply used to beautify the natural look of the terrarium. Like all Exo Terra natural terrarium decorations, the color and texture of the Rock Terrarium Background has been chosen to create a perfectly harmonized environment, humid or dry. The deep ridges in the back are perfect to hide wires or tubing from pumps or Heat Wave Rocks. The background is made from black polystyrene, thus easily hiding scratches or claw marks from your reptile. Polystyrene has the advantage of providing insulation and is easy to cut to fit any size of terrarium. Inner Dimensions of the Box are 34 7/8 x 16 7/8 Inches.

I purchased this for my crested gecko. It fits perfectly in my Thrive habitat and is very easy to install. I can easily slide it out to clean it. Great for preventing falls on the back wall and provides a natural look to the terrarium. Love!

I bought the three pack, it was around $44 at this time of purchase. The walls are a thick styrofoam, front is smoothly textured and the color appears agreeably natural. I had to modify the three panels for a 48” X 36” wall and trimming was easy ( kitchen bread knife). I would have like a complete looking fit, but for the price, I can’t justify spending more, it looks great. My only gripe would be the frame like groves on the backside of panels. I was able to attach the rock walls to the back of my enclosure with commercial grade Velcro. So far, so good and I’m happy with the result!

Update: I love the look of the wall but my bearded dragon would climb up it and sleep, but when she sleeps her muscles relax and she would fall off the wall. She fractured one of her back legs so as much as I love the wall I can’t use it until she gets older. I definitely would recommend this to older reptile owners!!I was looking around for a while for a background that would fit my 4x2x2 120 gal tank when I came across this one. It fits almost perfectly and I love the look of this background! They came in perfect condition.

This looks awesome in my lil dudes terrarium. I did NOT have an Exo Terra terrarium. I believe it was a Zoo Med one. I did have to cut about an inch off of the end and top for it to fit, but it was a breeze. It looks so much better than the cling ones. Up close, you can see that it is just styrofoam. When Traz climbs on it, little pieces occasionally crumble off, but nothing extensive. It really looks great.

Very nice and easy to cut foam I ordered the larger one for my temporary turtle tank "55 gallons" as a background and I gotta say it came out very nice. The foam is about around an inch on avarage and it hides cuts and scars very well. I didnt find any problems with this item or the following project. This wasent ment to be under water, because foam floats obviously so what I did was, cleared the tank of everything. Rocks, decoration, and what not. I then cleaned the back panel with alcohol and a rag to clean the surface. Then I cut the foam using the face of the tank to help guide me to fit it in perfectly. Then after I cut the foam and cleaned of all the little heads. I put aquarium silicone on the back '' be genourus with it''. Then let it dry over night with the foam bearing weight of some sort rocks, logs, toolboxes. Then test it by setting it where ever you put it and fill it with water. Don't put everything back in then test. If it holds fine then build back your tank if it doesn't scrape of ththe silicone and repeat previous steps. All in all its wonderful to have and it looks like a million bucks, I hope my review was helpful and thank you for reading.

This foam background is perfect for our 36" tank. I did have to trim it down to fit, but it was super easy to do (I used a bread knife). First time I put our Leopard Gecko in the tank, she climbed right up it and hung out for a bit before coming down. My only wish is that there was a way to get the background perfectly flush as crickets can easily get behind, but I don't want to use tape since I have to remove/change out the flooring. It is not a deal breaker as the crickets eventually come out, but it seems to drive our Gecko a bit crazy because she can hear them back there. I agree with other reviews that color in the picture is not accurate, but I like the darker color and purchased because of the reviews saying so.

I minus 1 star because the foam is not a desert sand color like in the pic. I took another star off because for a piece of foam and some paint this is as little pricey it probably only cost the seller like 2 dollars to make. Now on to the pros. I have a 90 gallon tank 48x22 now I bought a 36×18 because I dont have a lid on my tank [because all lids block part of the uvb enabling your reptile to not absorb enough] so I didnt want to risk my beardie climbing up and escaping and the length doesnt come in a 48in. I ended up with too much space to cover so I ended up cutting the backdrop in half and putting it on each end of my tank so my beardie can stop fighting her reflection. My depth is 18in deep so the 36 was a perfect size. I ended buying a cheap background from ebay for $12 and I absolutely love the end result and so does my girl blue. Her favorite chill spot is the the top of the foam, she climbs the foam all the way to the top and rests there until she sees it's feeding time or when its sleeping time, she sleeps in her all living hideaway cave which I highly recommend!UPDATE:Does not do well for your growing dragon. My girl is about a year now and when she tries to climb the foam crumbles leaving black balls all over that I have to constantly clean up. The last picture doesnt look so bad because Ive cleaned up most of the debris. I noticed she doesnt climb up it anymore because it doesnt hold her weight. I thought about glueing it but then if she poops and it falls through the cracks [like she previously has done] then I'll be left with a stinky tank.. then i thought about velcro dots but then it'll leave too much space between the glass and foam.. I think ill end up throwing this out soon.

Pattern doesn’t look exactly like photo, it’s a bit more varied which I like. It’s desert on one side and more tropical looking on the other side. Good quality, no imperfections and fairly easy to cut down to size. It was a bit too tall for our 40 gal tank. I prefer it be too large than too small. Good product and our beardie immediately started crawling on it. You’ll need something to prop against it or double side tape/magnetic tape to hold it in place. Arrived in 2 days!

I was quite surprised when I went to leave some useful information by clearing up the fact that this 100% fits the Exo Terra Viv "45 x 45 x 60cm" - I had to google this before buying to make sure. That it had so many negative reviews.It looks exactly like the picture. I do appreciate the others comments and can concure on some levels that they are correct with thier descriptions of it...... Having said that dealing with only Exo Terra Vivs from the smallest to my last 30 x 30 x 30. The backgrounds have always been like this.Furthermore My two cresties that use it constantly for shedding skin and general climbing and possible "playing" love it! Which i believe thats what the product is for. If you want to frame something and have it looking good, i suggest a picture maybe? lol....Otherwise does exactly what it is supposed to and Im sure if my Gecko's could tell you if they liked it or not they would! ^.^So overall. LOVE IT! RATE IT! WOULD BUY AGAIN!
