VCO, envelope, slew limiter (portamento), waveshaper, LFO, envelope follower… The EVENT does it all, making it one of the most versatile analog modules available.
Controls:
- ONSET: Controls the positive rate (time) of change in voltage. It has a bipolar CV input jack.
- DURATION: Controls the negative rate (time) of change in voltage. It has a bipolar CV input jack.
- HEIGHT: Controls the held voltage level when a continuous gate is applied.
- TRACK: 1v/oct input. It is particularly useful when patching the EVENT as a VCO.
- START: A simple gate/trigger/pulse input that initiates a cycle when the EVENT is patched as a voltage controlled envelope.
- SIGNAL input: Can be a constant or fluctuating voltage. This input is particularly useful for mangling CVs.
- SIG OUT: The main output, the result of the gate/trigger/pulse input or SIGNAL input.
- PLS DLY: A short pulse used for triggering other events as pulse delay (or as self trigger when patching the EVENT back into itself).
Specifications:
- Module width: 8HP
- Module depth: 22mm
- Current draw:
- +12V: 50mA
- -12V: 43mA

First off, the PCB supplied in the kit did not match the build document, making for a challenging build- it has the components/silk-screen flipped to the other side of the power connector. I like to check the build against the PCB images in the directions as I go along and this made for quite a headache. Once I got it together and working it turns out that the circuitry is not very accurate; there is a ~250 mV offset in the output and the dynamic range is limited to 4.4 V p-p as VCO. This makes it unusable to add portamento to CV controls. The offset alone will keep me from using it in my rack. (N.B. I have built more than a few kits and this is the first one that is not making the cut.)

Build is straightforward once you figure out the the build guide pictures are for an earlier revision of the board, NOT the 2.0 in the kit. Might be frustrating to a starting builder, folks, update your build guides when you update your kits.Works OK. Not as aggressive a shaper as some I’ve done, and the VCO is interesting. Does produce nice envelopes. Could be perfect for you.For a full build and demo, search YouTube for "C.K. builds an Event module kit from Rat King modular".

I started this project and was doing great until I realized that the instructions were mirror images of my board. The print side isn't the side for the components but is the soldering side, which is very unusual. Unfortunately, I had soldered the sockets already when I discovered this. But then, after closer examination, the notches on the board print doesn't match to the instructions either way, so I'm stuck. I sent RKM an email to see if there's some solution. Hopefully, making them aware will have them revise the instructions.
