The first sound synthesis course I took used a Moog modular synthesizer (I'm old). Behringer faithfully recreates the robust features of Moog's 902 VCA. You can select linear or exponential reactions (this switch could be a bit more sturdy feeling though. You can apply a base voltage to the circuit, that acts somewhat as an additional gain, but can also be used to set the floor of the VCA. You have two inputs (+ and -), as well as two outputs (+ and -). This can potentially free up a mixer, a multiple, and two inverters, saving you valuable rack space. Likewise, the three control inputs potentially frees up a mixer, again saving you valuable rack space. You can use the multiple control inputs to use multiple envelops to create a more complicated summed envelope. You can also use the multiple control inputs to sum an envelop with voltage output from a step sequencer or from a sample and hold circuit to create dynamic changes
