This little hatchet is very nice. My father has used Estwing hammers since the 80s and swears by them, so when I was in the market for a camping hatchet this was a no brainer. Sure, it’s massed produced so there will be some imperfections, but it is a very sturdy tool nonetheless. If you are looking for quality, affordability and a very low maintenance hatchet for camping, this is the perfect product for you.

Mrs went through a number of flimsy but expensive kitchen axes on nothing else but coconut shells. This is cheaper and solidly built for my use case. No idea for diy useBut it busts trough coconuts (brown and green) no problems just be sure to use a beefy chopping board, I found a a thick 60cmx60cm oak piece from my local timber yard.Only grips are bottom of handle had scuff marks so it was not in pristine condition but blade was clean have’s it a good clean before use

I loved this hatchet so much I bought a second one. It’s sturdy enough to handle small chopping tasks, while still being small and light enough to be strapped to a backpack or tactical vest (yes, I could definitely see this being used as a tactical tool with the addition of some grip tape over the stacked leather handle).

Es el mejor hacha que tengo con mucha diferencia. La forma del mango es excepcional. Es dinero bien invertido. Una herramienta para toda la vida.

After going camping I was in the market for a hatchet. I was drawn to this one primarily because it was made in the USA. I had gone back and forth about getting the 14" vs. 12" but didnt have much to base that decision on, which is what I will primarily try to address in this review. The 14" silver hatchet is available at home depot for about the same price as amazon, but for my purposes (vines, kindling, easy transport) it felt a little too big. I ordered the 12" and think it will work well for what I intend to do. I had originally questioned what the 12" actually meant (top of blade to bottom of handle) and if the blade would be the same size on both but just with a shorter handle (no). I'd say the 14" would be better for splitting logs and chopping moderate diameter branches. See the attached pictures. Thanks to the top customer review (excellent review BTW) I did the sanding and oiling of the leather and it helped a lot. Still not quite as soft / grippy as I was hoping for, so may sand again to rough up the leather. May also look into alternative grip solutions and will update later. I used goo gone to get rid of the sticker residue which as mentioned in another review was very sticky. It seems like the entire product was coated with an epoxy. I sanded it off the handle and the back of the hatchet (opposite the blade) because there was a drip of epoxy. The primary reason for my 4 star review is frustration that the sheath is made in Taiwan. To really promote American manufacturing then have the sheath with a big "Made in Taiwan" stamp was a little disappointing.

We purchased this hatchet for a camping trip after many days of research. Because we cook on our campfire, we needed to prepare a lot of wood every day. This little guy was a real VIP. The price was a little bit higher than we had originally planned to spend (it cost more than our full-size axe), but it was worth it.This hatchet is easy to hold, carry and use. The handle is a very comfortable design, and since the whole thing is one solid piece, it feels incredibly sturdy. It comes with a rugged sheath that can be worn on a belt, perfect for wood-hunting expeditions. We used it to chop small logs, limb downed trees and bust up small branches, to scrape bark and even to drive in our tent stakes. There are plenty of uses for a hatchet like this around a campsite and I have no doubt this one will rise to the challenge.Last of all, it's also an aesthetically beautiful tool. It's absolutely picturesque against a woodsy backdrop and a nice change from a lot of the ugly, brightly-colored, plastic and rubber-handled axes out there. We look forward to our next opportunity to use this awesome hatchet.

I bought this specifically for making kindling for my frequent camping trips. I wanted something small so it was easy to travel with and of good and sturdy quality for obvious safety reasons. I was happily surprised by the amazing ergonomics, handle is great and shape is superb for swinging power! Worked amazing. I try to buy only high quality and well made items so I only have to buy them ONCE, so I was okay with the price. I'm hoping and am confident this nifty little hatchet, with proper care on my part, will last a good 30 years! Will post an update then! Lol. My only complaint is all the stickers that were on it, but a little goo gone and in less than five minutes all the stickers were off and the hatchet looking ready to tackle an entire forest worth of kindling.
