Got these for my Jackson that I keep in drop C tuning. Was using 11-49's before, and just wasn't getting enough fat, beefier bottom end for palm mutes. May end up going with a heavier gauge for the lower C string but overall, these added a much needed fuller sound to chords and definition to faster palm muting style djent playing. Would not recommend any gauge lower than these for dropped tunings. Getting used to this heavier gauge will take some getting used to, and may have to adjust your springs to compensate for the added tension if you're using a floyd rose style floating tremlo, but well worth the sound and feel for the couple minutes of guitar work that may need done.
