Because the coils are not in series like the passive types, there's about twice as much low end as a passive pickup. Ceramic magnets are used to add clarity. Countless pros use it because they find it has a natural presence, powerful lows, punchy midrange, and superior definition.

I couldn't ask for better sounding pickups. They have even volume across the fingerboard and the sustain is amazing. In my experience, they sound and play much better than the stock P-Bass pickups I was using before.

I installed these pickups in my Squire Classic Vibe '70s Precision bass and wow what a difference. Warmer lows, and punchier highs. It was a big improvement to the sound of this bass. I have never been disappointed with any of the EMG products i've ever purchased. These are active pickups and I immediately noticed the added bump in projection and decibels. Highly recommended if you want to turbo charge your P Bass.

I got these to replace my passive pickups in my Washburn Sonamaster. As long as you remember these are active and not passive (or if you don’t act like an idiot and wire them like they’re passive) they’re good sounding pickups, especially for the price.

The EMG Pactive pickup will get your bass sounding like it's alive and fit. Ready to reach the highs of a crackhead or the lows of an addict's withdraws this is the pickup that you need.

I like the ease of installation . No soldering needed, plenty of instructions . The upper pickup was inaudible . The sound was distorted, scratchy. The lower pickup was slightly distorted loud enough to hear. The pickups they replaced were better sounding.

Great pickup, great sound. These went in a Fender American Standard Precision bass, I have used them in studio and on stage, they perform flawlessly and sound fantastic. I highly recommend. I have changed out the 9v battery about twice a year or so since I got the pickups in 2011, not out of necessity but just to make sure I wouldn't run out of juice in the middle of a session. If you're looking for a great replacement for factory pickups with a good performance increase, these are hard to beat for the money in my opinion.

these guys replaced the stock pick-ups in a Mexican P-Bass a couple weeks ago. I play tuned town a whole step, with round-wound steel strings. the output is much higher, of course, and I can get notes to sustain forever. remember that scene in Spinal Tap with Nigel's Les Pauls? that's kind of what I'm talking about here. and the low-end is very strong.BUT. the tone is very flat. not much happening in the high-end, even when I crank the graphic EQ on my head (a Peavy Mark VIII, for the record). I mean, the higher notes come through as strong as any of them, the tone quality is just very dull and very round-sounding. I'm thinking of replacing my volume pot with a DiMarzio 1meg and see if that does anything.
