I've been a gigging musician for 50 years and currently own 11 bass guitars. I bought a Sterling SUB-4 bass for around $350 with the express intent to modify it, which would be much cheaper than buying an Ernie Ball MusicMan (plus, I'm a lefty and couldn't find one to save my life).I'm a big Aguilar fan, so bought the AG 4M pickup. It dropped right into the guitar without any modification. The bass has active electronics, and I kept the originals, so it was just a matter of a little soldering. The bass now sounds marvelous and has quickly become one of my favorites. On the occasions that I play in my local church, the sound crew marvels about its tone and how it stands out in the mix.So, if you're looking for a quick mod that will quickly increase the tone of your bass, buy this pickup. You will not regret it.

The Sterling SUB bass is an incredible instrument for its price, but its week point is certainly it's incredibly hot pickup. The Aguilar gives you everything you could want when it comes to achieving a 'Ray' sound. Incredibly easy installation. The pickup improves the versatility of the stock preamp as well. High quality product. You need this!

Product is easy to install, only 2 wires that need to be soldered on to stock pre-amp after removal of original leads. If you are not adept at soldering have this done by someone qualified. Get yourself 3 height adjustment springs for this installation too as stock pick up utilizes foam for height adjustments and it can not be removed to be used on new pick up. No issues fitting in pick guard. Great value and incredible improvement over stock pick up. You won't believe your ears, very similar to substantially more expensive models.

It is an easy installation. You will have to solder in the leads to the existing conrols but only 2 wires so no biggie. Exact fit for the sub 4 basses. The sound and clears up compared to the original pickup. The only down side is that the pickup is great, it will make you to get a better preamp for the bass.

I bought this to install on my sterling sub ray4, definitely one of the best decisions, maybe it works better if I also replace the preamp, but for now it sounds great for me, Goodbye to the cheap and hot factory pick up in this model, welcome Aguilar pick up :)

Easy install and hookup. Top quality workmanship. Great tone for factory Musicman bass pickup replacement. Aquilar also has great tech service with immediate response. Compared to the muddy and flat MM factory pickup the Aguilar is brighter and more responsive through the entire spectrum. Pair the Aguilar with a Seymour Duncan pre-amp and its a bass on fire.

Bought the Aguilar AP60 for my American Standard P-Bass....I had the Quarter Pounders for a while, liked them, but, wanted to try something else...so I got the Aguilar P-Bass pickups and, blown away....Let's just say, I liked them so much, I then bought a pickup for my MusicMan...Blown away again. After Christmas, will probably buy a set for my Lakland DJ4 Jazz Bass...and fortunately, Aguilar does a test of all 3 Jazz p-ups on a Joe Osbourne Lakland.Get this pickup, you'll love it.
